Professor Kingsley Nyarko, the Deputy Minister of Education overseeing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), has made a significant call to action for teachers during the recent graduation ceremony at the Agogo Presbyterian Women’s College of Education. He urged them to acknowledge the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) reinstatement of trainee allowances by supporting the party in the forthcoming 2024 elections. The ceremony, which took place on October 10, 2024, highlighted the critical role those allowances play in the education sector, further paving the way for dialogue about the political and educational landscape in Ghana.

Highlighting the positive repercussions of the restored trainee allowance, Professor Nyarko asserted that the NPP’s policy had been instrumental in driving an increase in the number of teacher trainees. Since 2016, the number of trainees has surged from 44,813 to around 72,258 by the 2021/2022 academic year. This remarkable growth, according to him, is directly linked to the party’s commitment to advancing educational opportunities, thus enhancing learning outcomes across the nation. During the ceremony, the Principal of Agogo Presbyterian Women’s College of Education, Rev.
