Friends of Adaklu (FOA), a non-governmental organization dedicated to community development within the Adaklu District of Ghana’s Volta Region, has launched a pioneering educational initiative by enrolling eighteen students in the Learning Upgrade Online Programme. This program, a globally recognized online learning platform, offers a diverse curriculum encompassing crucial subjects such as English, Mathematics, Digital Skills, Financial Literacy, and Workforce Development. The initiative aims to bridge educational gaps and empower students with essential skills for academic success and future career prospects. The inaugural cohort of students is participating in a one-year pilot program, which will serve as a valuable assessment of the program’s effectiveness and inform its future expansion within the community. Upon successful completion of their chosen courses, students will be awarded internationally recognized certificates, validating their acquired skills and knowledge.

Central to the program’s functionality is reliable internet access, a critical requirement for accessing the online platform and its resources. Recognizing this need, FOA has proactively addressed the challenge of internet connectivity by providing access through a Starlink Internet Device. This strategic investment ensures that participating students have the necessary tools to fully engage with the program’s interactive learning modules, educational music, and quizzes. This commitment to providing the necessary infrastructure underscores FOA’s dedication to ensuring equitable access to quality education for all students, regardless of their socio-economic background.

FOA is actively encouraging parental involvement and broader community participation in the Learning Upgrade Programme. Parents with children possessing Android phones, laptops, or desktops with internet access are urged to enroll their children, recognizing the program’s potential to significantly enhance their academic performance and overall learning experience.
