The Agenda 111 hospital project in Agortoe, Anloga District, Volta Region, Ghana, is currently at 48% completion. This project, initiated by the previous government, forms part of a broader national initiative to construct numerous healthcare facilities across the country, including district hospitals, regional hospitals, and specialized healthcare centers. The Anloga District Hospital is designed as a state-of-the-art facility, encompassing outpatient services, specialized departments like ophthalmology and dental care, a physiotherapy unit, and four modern surgical theaters. Situated on a 15-acre site, the estimated construction cost for this comprehensive healthcare center is approximately US$17 million.
The hospital’s design prioritizes sustainability, incorporating features like solar harvesting and thermal mass to reduce its environmental impact. This approach aims to blend modern medical technology with contextually relevant and holistic healthcare practices. Despite earlier delays attributed to funding challenges, recent reports indicate progress has been renewed, with certain sections, such as the Outpatient Department (OPD), nearing completion. The Volta Regional Minister, during a site visit, acknowledged the past delays and pledged to expedite the project’s completion, recognizing its vital role in the region’s development.
The anticipated completion of the Anloga District Hospital holds significant promise for improving healthcare access and outcomes for residents.
