The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Joint Campus Council, Anambra State, has expressed its intention to purchase the nomination form for the re-election bid of Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, in the upcoming November 8, 2025, governorship election. This announcement was made by the Chairman of the Council, Okoye Okpara, during a press briefing in Awka. Okpara, who also serves as the National Coordinator of the “Solution Students Movement of Nigeria,” emphasized the students’ desire to support Governor Soludo’s re-election due to his perceived exemplary leadership qualities and positive impact on the state.

The students’ endorsement of Governor Soludo underscores their appreciation for his administration’s commitment to student welfare and transformative policies. They particularly highlighted the ongoing “One Youth Two Skills” acquisition program, which has benefited numerous students in Anambra State. This program aligns with the governor’s focus on empowering youth and equipping them with valuable skills for future employment opportunities. The students’ initiative to purchase the nomination form symbolizes their strong belief in Governor Soludo’s leadership and their desire for him to continue his developmental agenda for the state.

Despite their enthusiasm, the students have also issued a 30-day ultimatum for Governor Soludo to publicly declare his intention to seek re-election. If the governor fails to do so within this timeframe, the students plan to stage protests across major cities in Anambra State, including Awka, Onitsha, Nnewi, and Ekwulobia. However, they have emphasized that these protests will be peaceful and non-destructive, aimed solely at urging the governor to make his intentions known.

The students’ call for Governor Soludo to declare his candidacy stems from their concern about the approaching election, which is less than a year away. They believe that a timely declaration will provide clarity and allow for adequate preparation for the electoral process. The students’ proactive approach reflects their eagerness to participate in the political process and ensure that their preferred candidate has ample time to campaign and engage with the electorate.

The students’ decision to purchase the nomination form represents a notable demonstration of support for Governor Soludo. Their proactive stance, coupled with the ultimatum for a public declaration, underscores their commitment to his re-election bid. The “One Youth Two Skills” program is highlighted as a key achievement of the Soludo administration, resonating with the students’ belief in his focus on youth development and empowerment.

The potential protests, while intended to be peaceful, add an element of pressure on Governor Soludo to address the students’ call for a timely declaration of his re-election intentions. This move also highlights the role of student activism in the political landscape of Anambra State. The students’ actions underscore their engagement with the political process and their desire to influence the outcome of the upcoming governorship election. Their initiative serves as an example of youth participation in shaping the future leadership of their state.
