The Cross River State Political Network (CRISPON), a fervent support group within the All Progressives Congress (APC), orchestrated a massive rally at the U.J. Esuene Stadium in Calabar, demonstrating unwavering support for the re-election bids of Governor Bassey Otu and President Bola Tinubu in 2027. This impressive display of political solidarity brought together party loyalists, influential leaders, and enthusiastic supporters representing all 196 wards and 18 local government areas of Cross River State. The event served as a powerful testament to the grassroots mobilization efforts of CRISPON, reflecting the widespread belief in the leadership of both Governor Otu and President Tinubu.

The scale of the rally, with over 7,000 participants mobilized from the northern senatorial district alone, and thousands more from the central and southern zones, underscored the deep-rooted support for the APC across the state. Dr. Michael Abuo, Director General of CRISPON, attributed the success of the event to the meticulous grassroots mobilization carried out across all three senatorial zones. He emphasized that the impressive turnout sent a clear and unequivocal message of Cross River’s unwavering commitment to President Tinubu and Governor Otu, despite the inherited challenges they face.

Dr. Abuo further articulated the rationale behind CRISPON’s endorsement, highlighting President Tinubu’s bold economic reforms, particularly the removal of the fuel subsidy. He lauded this decision as a strategic move that has significantly increased revenue allocations to states and local governments, thereby empowering them to execute impactful development projects. He portrayed President Tinubu as having transformed Nigeria into a development hub, while Governor Otu, in his view, has focused on addressing fundamental issues such as road infrastructure, wage payments, and civil service reforms, laying the groundwork for more significant achievements in the future.

Dr. Abuo’s address resonated with the overarching theme of unwavering loyalty to the APC and its leadership, culminating in a resounding declaration: “There is no vacancy in 2027.” This emphatic statement encapsulated CRISPON’s resolute support for Tinubu and Otu’s re-election bids, signaling a concerted effort to secure their continued leadership.

Governor Bassey Otu, addressing the rally via telephone, expressed profound gratitude for the overwhelming display of support. He reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to inclusive governance, ensuring that all segments of society are represented and benefit from the state’s development agenda. He promised further appointments and opportunities for the people of Cross River, reinforcing his commitment to fostering a participatory and equitable political environment.

Governor Otu’s message conveyed a sense of optimism and forward momentum. He encouraged continued belief in the ongoing efforts of his administration and emphasized the state’s progressive trajectory. Acknowledging CRISPON’s pivotal role as the “number one support group” of the APC, he pledged to maintain a harmonious working relationship with the people, creating opportunities for growth and prosperity throughout the state. This reciprocal expression of support cemented the bond between the government and the people, setting the stage for continued collaboration and progress in Cross River State.
