The All Progressives Congress (APC) is gearing up to contest the Anambra State governorship election scheduled for November 8, 2025, with a strong resolve to wrest power from the incumbent All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). The party leadership, spearheaded by National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has expressed unwavering confidence in their ability to secure victory, emphasizing the strategic importance of Anambra State to the APC’s national agenda. This ambition was publicly declared during the inauguration of the APC Anambra 2025 Governorship Election Campaign Council, a significant event held at the party’s state headquarters in Awka.

The inauguration ceremony served as a platform for the APC to showcase its commitment to capturing Anambra. Prof. Yilwatda, while addressing the newly appointed campaign council members, outlined the party’s strategic approach, emphasizing the deployment of comprehensive electoral strategies designed to ensure victory at the polls. He underscored the party’s readiness to challenge the current administration led by Governor Chukwuma Soludo and emphasized the campaign council’s crucial role in mobilizing grassroots support across the state. This strategic focus, he explained, was essential to achieve the party’s objective of reclaiming Anambra from APGA.

Bolstering the APC’s confidence was the recent defection of four Anambra Assembly members to the party. This development, according to Prof. Yilwatda, signifies growing support for the APC within the existing government structure and indicates that the party has already secured the backing of a significant portion of the state’s political players. He urged the campaign council to capitalize on this momentum by actively engaging with local government and unit-level members to maximize voter outreach and mobilization. Looking ahead, the national chairman also announced plans for a formal launch of the National Campaign Council, an event expected to attract prominent APC figures from across the nation.

The APC’s campaign strategy hinges heavily on the proposed developmental blueprint presented by its governorship candidate, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, and his running mate, Senator Uche Ekwunife. Prof. Yilwatda highlighted the practical and actionable nature of this blueprint, emphasizing its potential to drive Anambra’s progress and enhance its connection with the federal government. He expressed optimism that this detailed roadmap, coupled with the combined experience and expertise of the candidates, would resonate with the electorate and pave the way for an APC victory in the upcoming election.

Representing Prof. Yilwatda at the inauguration event was Dr. Arodiogbu Ijomah, the APC South East Zonal Chairman, who commended the Anambra State APC Chairman, Chief Basil Ejidike, for his efforts in maintaining party unity within the state. This internal cohesion, he stressed, is crucial for a successful campaign. Meanwhile, Prince Ukachukwu used the platform to critique the current administration’s handling of key issues, particularly insecurity and infrastructural decay. He positioned the APC as the solution to these challenges, promising to prioritize these areas and bring a more practical and effective governance approach to Anambra.

Chief Basil Ejidike echoed these sentiments, calling on the national party leadership to actively support their efforts in “rescuing” Anambra from APGA’s grip. This call for collaborative action underscores the importance of a unified front in their campaign to dislodge the incumbent party. Further reinforcing the party’s determination, key figures within the campaign structure, including Arinze Awogu, Chairman of the Inauguration Committee, and Chief Dozie Ikedife, Director General of the State Campaign Council, pledged their commitment to deliver victory for the APC in the November 8th election. Johnbosco Onunkwo, a prominent party stakeholder, added his voice to the chorus of support, urging Anambra residents to vote for the APC and thereby ensure the state’s closer alignment with the federal government.
