ArcelorMittal Liberia (AML) has embarked on a significant community development project, initiating the rehabilitation of a crucial 28-kilometer road stretching from Kpelleh Town in Kakata City to the Firestone Staff Club in Margibi County. This road, vital for local communities, has suffered from prolonged neglect and its poor condition has burdened residents for years. The comprehensive rehabilitation project, costing over half a million dollars ($527,000), signals AML’s commitment to community development beyond its operational areas and responds directly to a community request facilitated by Margibi County Representative Hellen Wureh. The project underscores a collaborative approach involving AML, community representatives, and a Liberian-owned construction company, Frebenja Group of Companies.

He also noted that the project proceeded following consultation and approval from Firestone Liberia, acknowledging the historical significance of the rubber plantation. Jallah Selmah, AML’s General Manager of Mines, reinforced the company’s commitment to community engagement, positioning the road project as a tangible demonstration of this commitment. He urged community members to cooperate fully during the construction process, particularly in ensuring traffic management and safety around the construction activities.
