The Bauchi State Government has embarked on a significant initiative to bolster its healthcare infrastructure by earmarking N5 billion for the renovation of all primary healthcare centers (PHCs) across the state. This ambitious undertaking underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing access to quality healthcare services for its citizens, particularly in underserved areas. The revitalization project is a key component of the “My Bauchi Projects” healthcare blueprint, which aims to bring all PHCs up to minimum standards, ensuring that they are adequately equipped and staffed to provide essential healthcare services.

This comprehensive renovation project is being executed in phases, with the first phase targeting 124 PHCs. The selection of these initial centers was strategically guided by the World Bank’s IMPACT Project, a collaborative effort aimed at strengthening healthcare systems in developing countries. The commissioning of six revitalized PHCs in the Kirfi Local Government Area marked an important milestone in this ongoing project. These centers represent the initial fruits of the collaborative efforts between the state government and the World Bank. The Bauchi State Primary Health Care Board has emphasized the government’s dedication to tackling the challenges impacting women and children’s health, particularly in reducing maternal health complications and deaths. The revitalized PHCs will play a pivotal role in achieving these goals by providing essential maternal and child health services, including antenatal care, skilled birth attendance, and postnatal care.
