The ChrisCares Foundation, led by Mr. Chris Arthur, has taken significant steps to address youth unemployment within the Agona West Municipality by enrolling 52 young apprentices into its Vocational and Technical training program. This initiative marks the commencement of the second phase of a comprehensive two-year Skills Training program that aims to train over 650 youth in various essential skills. Mr. Arthur emphasized that this effort is critical not only for enhancing individual career prospects but also for energizing the local economy, thereby creating a more stable and prosperous future for the community.

To facilitate the training process, Mr. Arthur presented vital tools and equipment to the trainers, including industrial sewing machines and hair dryers, emphasizing the Foundation’s commitment to high-quality education. By covering the enrollment fees for the participants, he aimed to eliminate the financial barriers that often prevent young individuals from pursuing vocational training, thus enabling a broader spectrum of youth to benefit from these invaluable skills. He underscored the importance of vocational training as an avenue for self-improvement and economic empowerment in the Agona West Municipality.

As a Parliamentary Candidate for the Agona West Constituency representing the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Arthur encouraged the youth to leverage these opportunities for skill development. He stressed the importance of dedication and hard work during the training period, cautioning against behaviors such as indiscipline and laziness that could hinder their chances of success in their future careers. By instilling a strong work ethic, Mr. Arthur believes that the participants will be better equipped to navigate the challenges of the job market and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

Mr. Arthur noted that this vocational training initiative supplements the government’s Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) policy, which is designed to equip young people with the necessary skills to thrive. He reiterated his commitment to empowering the youth of Agona West and urged parents to provide necessary support for their children throughout the training period. This encouragement is pivotal for ensuring that apprentices can dedicate themselves to their studies without distractions, laying a solid foundation for their professional journeys.

Moreover, Mr. Arthur took the opportunity to urge the people of Agona West to support Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the upcoming presidential elections, as well as to re-elect him as their Member of Parliament. By doing so, he emphasized that the continuity of leadership would be essential for sustaining development initiatives within the municipality. His appeal to the electorate reflects his ambition to maintain momentum in the ongoing effort to uplift the community through sustained investment in education and job creation.

The significance of this initiative was recognized by local officials, including the Agona West Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Evans Addison Onomah Coleman, who commended Mr. Arthur for his forward-thinking approach to youth empowerment. He highlighted various social intervention programs initiated by the ChrisCares Foundation, which have substantially improved the lives of residents in the area. Furthermore, the response from the beneficiaries’ parents, as expressed by representative Nana Abaeku Baiden, showcased the widespread support for Mr. Arthur’s initiatives, likening them to the government’s Free SHS policy. This comparison underscores the foundational desire within the community for sustainable solutions to unemployment and economic hardship. Overall, the ChrisCares Foundation continues to lead impactful efforts that resonate deeply within the community, nurturing hope and opportunity for the youth of Agona West.
