The Dreams Impact Foundation, a charitable organization operating in the Volta Region, has recently made a significant contribution to the Ho Municipality, donating items valued at GHS 10,000 to three key institutions: Tanyigbe Senior High School (SHS), Ho Central Prisons, and the Ho Municipal Hospital. This initiative reflects the foundation’s commitment to supporting vulnerable groups in society, particularly in areas concerning health, education, and social reforms. Each recipient organization was chosen for its unique challenges, and the donations were designed to address specific needs while also encouraging broader community engagement.

At Tanyigbe Senior High School, the foundation focused on menstrual hygiene, a critical issue affecting female students. The organization distributed sanitary pads to approximately 300 girls to enhance their hygiene during their menstrual cycles. In addition to the physical donation, the foundation conducted educational sessions on personal hygiene, which are vital in assisting the students in managing their health effectively. The response from the students was overwhelmingly positive; many expressed their gratitude for the support. However, some students voiced concerns regarding the limited availability of water and other resources necessary for maintaining personal hygiene, highlighting the ongoing challenges they face in their daily lives.

The Dreams Impact Foundation also directed its efforts towards the Ho Central Prisons, where they donated food packs to the male inmates and both food packs and sanitary pads to the female inmates. The foundation’s team took the initiative to engage with the inmates, encouraging them to embrace correctional measures and stressing the importance of civic engagement, such as participating in voting and decision-making processes. This visit not only provided tangible support but also aimed to uplift the spirits of the inmates. The prison officers expressed their appreciation for the assistance and requested further outreach, particularly during holiday seasons when the need for support is likely to be more profound.

Turning to the healthcare sector, the Dreams Impact Foundation made its presence felt at the Ho Municipal Hospital, particularly in the labor ward. The foundation donated parcels containing clothing and cash to support new mothers and also provided refreshments for the nursing staff caring for these women. Madam Patience Akorsu, the Principal Midwifery Officer, acknowledged the importance of this support while also shedding light on the challenges faced at the hospital. These include a lack of access to water, which is critical for both patient care and hospital operations. She made an appeal for additional resources to ensure that new mothers and their newborns receive the adequate care they need during their hospital stay.

The President of the Dreams Impact Foundation, Madam Setina Edem Sunu, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to advocating for vulnerable populations. Citing previous initiatives, including the establishment of boreholes in Adaklu in 2021, she pledged to continue making regular visits to Tanyigbe SHS to provide ongoing support. Furthermore, Madam Sunu addressed the critical issue of menstrual health management, calling for the government to reconsider the taxation on sanitary pads. She passionately argued that women should not be penalized for natural physiological processes and advocated for continuing support initiatives for schoolgirls, which are essential for ensuring their continued education.

Ultimately, the Dreams Impact Foundation exemplifies a model of grassroots activism that fosters hope and promotes positive change within the Ho Municipality. Through its targeted interventions, the foundation not only meets immediate needs but also addresses systemic issues that affect education and healthcare access. With an eye on future initiatives, the foundation plans to expand its reach and deepen its impact in the region, ensuring that vulnerable populations receive the support they require to thrive.
