The All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus in Ekiti State has thrown its weight behind President Bola Tinubu and Governor Biodun Oyebanji for re-election, citing their exceptional leadership and impactful governance. The endorsement motions, presented during a caucus meeting in Iyin Ekiti, highlighted the significant strides made by both leaders in their respective roles. Senator Yemi Adaramodu, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Publicity, championed Tinubu’s endorsement, emphasizing the President’s decisive economic reforms and security strategies. Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Adeoye Aribasoye, led the charge for Oyebanji’s re-election, pointing to the governor’s commitment to the welfare of the Ekiti people and the state’s overall development.
Senator Adaramodu lauded President Tinubu’s “transformational” reforms, arguing that they have revitalized the nation’s economy and addressed the root causes of insecurity. He expressed confidence in Tinubu’s continued leadership, proposing that the “Renewed Hope Agenda” should be further renewed in the 2027 presidential election. Dismissing concerns about political maneuvering outside the APC, Adaramodu maintained that the party remains unfazed by opposition tactics, viewing them as predictable political posturing. The senator’s strong endorsement reflects the belief within the Ekiti APC caucus that Tinubu’s leadership is crucial for the country’s continued progress.
Speaker Aribasoye’s endorsement of Governor Oyebanji centered on the governor’s demonstrable leadership qualities, including integrity, dedication, and unwavering commitment to the people of Ekiti State. He highlighted Oyebanji’s achievements in infrastructure development, enhanced security, improved healthcare and education outcomes, and the overall socio-economic growth of the state. Aribasoye argued that these accomplishments justify the governor’s re-election bid in 2026, ensuring the continuation of positive trajectory of the state under his leadership. The Speaker’s motion underscored the caucus’s confidence in Oyebanji’s ability to further advance the development of Ekiti State.
Sola Elesin, the State APC Chairman, echoed the sentiments of the caucus, praising Governor Oyebanji’s inclusive approach to governance. He noted that no town in Ekiti State has been overlooked in the distribution of state government interventions, spanning infrastructure development, rural electrification, healthcare improvement, agricultural revolution, and youth empowerment programs. This comprehensive approach, according to Elesin, demonstrates Oyebanji’s commitment to equitable development and justifies his continued leadership.
Former Governor Kayode Fayemi commended Oyebanji’s humility and service to the party, both at the state and national levels, urging party members to appreciate the governor’s leadership style. This endorsement from a prominent figure within the Ekiti APC further solidified the support for Oyebanji’s re-election bid. It also highlighted the unity within the party ranks and the collective belief in Oyebanji’s ability to lead the state forward.
Governor Oyebanji expressed his gratitude for the endorsements and acknowledged President Tinubu’s support, crediting the President for creating a conducive environment for states to thrive through impactful national policies and reforms. He acknowledged the contributions of the President and reinforced the collaborative spirit between the federal and state governments within the APC. Former Governor Niyi Adebayo reinforced the caucus’s unanimous support for Oyebanji’s re-election, emphasizing the satisfaction with the governor’s performance and the belief that he should continue his leadership journey. This collective endorsement underlined the widespread support within the Ekiti APC for Oyebanji’s second term.
