Ekiti State Government Invests in Sports Infrastructure and Agricultural Development
The Ekiti State Government has embarked on a series of strategic investments aimed at bolstering the state’s sports and agricultural sectors. A significant portion of this investment is directed towards the construction of a state-of-the-art indoor sports hall, a project designed to engage and empower the youth while advancing the overall sporting landscape of Ekiti State. The contract for this ambitious undertaking has been awarded to Messrs Aron Nigeria Limited at a cost of N7,642,981,521.50, with a stipulated completion timeline of 52 weeks. In a parallel move to boost agricultural productivity and food security, the Ekiti State Executive Council has approved a substantial allocation of N2.2 billion for land clearing operations. This initiative targets 1,300 hectares of land, preparing them for mechanized farming practices. With a projected completion period of three months, the land clearing exercise is strategically timed to facilitate timely crop planting within the current year. These Japan-customized tools, including 902 sets of raincoats and rain boots, along with other essential implements, are intended to equip the participants of the "Bring Back the Youth to Agriculture" initiative with the necessary resources to enhance their productivity and contribute effectively to the state’s agricultural output.
