The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Youth Wing is filled with a sense of hope as they look forward to the upcoming elections in December, where they believe the party and its flagbearer, former President John Dramani Mahama, will secure a victory. Mr. Okai Mintah, the Chairperson of the National Youth Working Committee, expressed his optimism during a community engagement in the Woe area of the Anlo Constituency. He underscored the necessity for accountability, transparency, and good governance—principles they promise to uphold if Mahama is elected, marking a stark contrast to the current administration’s perceived deficiencies. With Mahama seeking to reclaim the presidency, the youth wing is enthusiastic about the prospect of meaningful change and a restoration of dignity to the nation’s leadership.

Highlighting Mahama’s prior accomplishments during his tenure, Mintah emphasized his experience and ability to navigate Ghana through its current challenges. He cited significant investments made in infrastructure, education, and healthcare as key indicators of Mahama’s leadership capabilities. Mintah assured constituents that the NDC has devised a comprehensive plan aimed at tackling pressing issues such as unemployment, corruption, and the economic hardships that many Ghanaians currently face. The party is adamant about revamping the economy and ensuring citizens have access to quality services, positioning Mahama as the ideal candidate to lead this transformative agenda.

In his rallying call, Mintah urged Ghanaians to stay patient and motivated in their efforts toward securing a victory for the NDC. He pointed out the heavy tax burdens imposed by the current government—namely, the E-Levy and COVID-19 Levy—as contributing factors to the populace’s struggles. Emphasizing the urgency of their electoral mission, he called the upcoming elections a critical juncture not merely between the NDC and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), but as a fundamental choice between NPP and the people of Ghana. His message was clear: Ghanaians must vote for a trustworthy, honest, reliable, and experienced leader—qualities he firmly believes are embodied in John Mahama.

During the engagement, Mr. Egypt Korbla Kudoto, the Volta Regional NDC Vice Chairperson, also shared insights urging the artisan coastal community to remember the history of assistance provided by Mahama during difficult times, such as the tidal waves that previously affected the region. He reminded voters of the sea defense project initiated under Mahama’s leadership, asserting that the NDC remains attuned to the hardships faced by citizens and deserves the opportunity to lead once more. Korbla’s sentiments echoed a broader message that the NDC could be relied upon for rectifying the challenges currently experienced by Ghanaians.

Women’s empowerment was another focal point of the event, as highlighted by Madam Sandra Seyram Kpedor, the Women Organiser for the Anlo Constituency. She rallied the female constituents to seize the opportunity and vote for the NDC, presenting the chance to usher in Ghana’s first female Vice President. Kpedor introduced the NDC’s proposed Women’s Development Bank as an initiative aimed at significantly improving women’s economic empowerment. Her call resonated with many attendees, as they shared their commitment to supporting the party’s election campaign, recognizing its potential to effect transformative change in women’s lives and the broader society.

The enthusiasm among the attendees, including individuals like Mr. Samuel Amedeka, who expressed their commitment to the NDC’s vision, underlined the palpable sense of urgency in the air. Amedeka’s statement, “the election on December 7 is between Ghana and NPP and by all means, Ghana must win to be free from the current hardships,” encapsulated the feelings of many who attended the engagement. The community’s response to the event signifies a collective determination to strive for NDC’s victory in the upcoming elections, indicating a strong belief that the party can indeed help restore Ghana’s dignity and integrity. As the election date nears, the NDC Youth Wing remains resolute in their mission to engage Ghanaians in a conversation about their future and the possibility of a better governance framework under Mahama’s leadership.
