Chidera Ezeakor, building upon his previous success at the MTN CHAMPS Benin and Lagos legs, blazed through the men’s 100m preliminaries with a stunning new personal best of 10.35 seconds. His time solidified his position as the fastest qualifier, setting the stage for an exciting final. Hot on his heels were Glory Olokpa (10.44s) and Lucky Daje (10.47s), showcasing the depth of talent in the men’s sprinting field.

The women’s 100m preliminaries mirrored the men’s, with Kate Odumoso shaving off five-hundredths of a second from her previous best at MTN CHAMPS Benin to clock an impressive 11.55 seconds, leading the pack. Cynthia Chioma followed closely, shattering her previous best with a time of 11.56s, an improvement of nearly a tenth of a second.
