Eterna Plc, a prominent integrated energy provider in Nigeria, has marked a considerable accomplishment with the launch of its “into-plane Jet-A1 fuel operations” at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed Airport. This development follows the successful commissioning of the Joint User Hydrant Installation 2 (JUHI-2) facility, which possesses an impressive storage capacity of 15 million litres of Jet A1 fuel, specifically utilized for aircraft propulsion. The facility represents a significant advancement in Nigeria’s aviation fuel infrastructure, marking a pivotal shift in how fuel operations are handled within the sector.

Eterna’s Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Abiola Lawal, expressed enthusiasm about this new venture in jet fuel operations and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to delivering exceptional services to clients in the aviation sector. Lawal emphasized that Eterna’s receipt of full regulatory approval for into-plane operations not only showcases their adherence to the highest industry standards but also ensures that they can provide safe, efficient, and reliable fueling services to airlines. The CEO noted that the completion of their first fueling operation signifies a readiness to effectively serve both domestic and international airlines, highlighting the company’s preparedness in meeting their unique needs.

Further insight into the company’s ethos was shared by Boyede Oyegbami, Eterna’s Aviation Commercial Manager, who underscored Eterna Aviation’s official readiness to engage with airline partners. He communicated a clear message that the company’s approach centers around safety and quality, promising excellent service delivery as they navigate the intricacies of aviation fueling. With an invitation for inquiries and partnerships, Oyegbami presented a forward-looking perspective on Eterna’s future collaborations with airlines globally.

The JUHI-2 facility was recently inaugurated by the Minister of Aviation, Mr. Festus Keyamo (SAN), signifying it as the largest airside jet fuel depot in Nigeria. Impressively, this facility can deliver a minimum of 150 million litres of aviation fuel on a monthly basis, representing a striking 20 percent of Nigeria’s annual aviation fuel sales volume in just one month. This milestone is crucial in addressing the fuel supply needs of Nigeria’s growing aviation sector, which has seen a burgeoning demand for reliable fueling services.

The establishment of JUHI-2 was the product of collaboration between several industry stakeholders, including Eterna Plc, Masters Energy Oil & Gas, Techno Oil & Gas, Rahamaniyya Oil & Gas, Ibafon Oil, Quest Oil Group, and First Deep Water Limited. This consortium has pooled their resources and expertise to create an essential infrastructure that not only meets the current demands but also positions Nigeria favorably within the regional aviation market. With this collaborative effort, Eterna Plc is not only enhancing its operational capabilities but also enriching the overall aviation fueling landscape in Nigeria.

Eterna Plc has expressed optimism regarding the growth potential within its aviation business segment, signaling its readiness to provide substantial value to all customers. As the company embarks on this new chapter, stakeholders anticipate that Eterna will play a key role in transforming the aviation fuel supply chain in Nigeria, promoting efficiency, safety, and reliability for airlines and passengers alike. With an unwavering commitment to excellence, Eterna is set to redefine standards in the aviation fueling industry in Nigeria, contributing significantly to the sector’s progress and development.
