Fidelity Bank Plc, a leading financial institution in Nigeria, marked Children’s Day 2025 with a vibrant celebration themed “The Fidelity Fantasyland 3.0” held at the Fidelity Grounds in Oniru, Lagos. The event served as a platform to unveil two significant initiatives aimed at fostering literacy and empowering young Nigerians: the Read2Lead Anthology and a scholarship award program. These initiatives underscore Fidelity Bank’s commitment to investing in the education and future of Nigerian youth.

The Read2Lead Anthology is a compilation of superhero-themed essays penned by 30 exceptional young writers selected from across the nation. The competition, themed “Naija Superheroes,” attracted over 3,000 entries, showcasing the immense creative potential and literary talent residing within Nigerian youth. Each essay captures the unique perspectives and imaginative prowess of these young authors, weaving narratives that celebrate Nigerian culture, values, and aspirations through the lens of fictional superheroes. The anthology serves as a testament to the power of storytelling and its ability to inspire, educate, and entertain.

Dr. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Fidelity Bank Plc, lauded the remarkable efforts of all the students who participated in the Read2Lead competition. She emphasized that the initiative was not merely a contest but a celebration of vision, hard work, and the untapped potential within Nigerian youth. Dr. Onyeali-Ikpe highlighted Fidelity Bank’s dedication to providing young Nigerians with the necessary tools and opportunities to enhance their reading, writing, and critical thinking skills. By equipping the next generation with these essential skills, Fidelity Bank aims to contribute to their personal and societal transformation.

The Read2Lead initiative aligns with Fidelity Bank’s core belief in the transformative power of education. The bank recognizes education as a fundamental catalyst for individual growth and societal progress. Through initiatives like Read2Lead, Fidelity Bank actively invests in the future of Nigeria by empowering young people with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving world. The anthology serves as a tangible example of this commitment, showcasing the creativity and intellectual prowess of young Nigerians.

Beyond the Read2Lead Anthology, Fidelity Bank further demonstrated its commitment to education by awarding scholarships to four exceptional pupils. These scholarships, each worth ₦150,000, were presented to Thiago Chukwudubem Agada, Nabeela Nia Rufai, Victory Alize Chukwuebuka, and Osinachi Olivia Onyeaghala. The recipients were selected through the Fidelity Savings Loyalty Scheme, which encourages and rewards consistent savings habits among young people. These scholarships not only provide financial assistance but also serve as a motivation for students to excel academically and pursue their dreams.

The Children’s Day event served as a platform to celebrate the achievements of these young individuals and reaffirm Fidelity Bank’s dedication to empowering the next generation. The combination of the Read2Lead Anthology and the scholarship awards reflects a holistic approach to youth development, nurturing both creative expression and academic excellence. By investing in the education and well-being of young Nigerians, Fidelity Bank plays a vital role in shaping a brighter future for the nation. The initiatives launched on Children’s Day 2025 underscore the bank’s long-term vision and commitment to building a more prosperous and sustainable future for Nigeria.
