The All Progressives Congress (APC) has initiated preparations for the 2025 Anambra State governorship election by establishing committees to oversee the crucial delegate congress. This congress will elect the delegates responsible for selecting the party’s gubernatorial candidate for the election. Former Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed Abubakar, has been appointed to chair the Delegates Congress Committee, leading a team of seasoned party members and stakeholders. This underscores the significance the APC places on the Anambra election and its commitment to ensuring a robust and transparent candidate selection process.

The Delegates Congress Committee, tasked with the critical responsibility of conducting the delegate elections, comprises experienced individuals from within the party. Alongside Chairman Mohammed Abubakar, the committee includes Egogbamu Okoro, Ba’ande Imam, Augustine Agada, Babangida Abdullahi, Umar Hassan Augie, and Dr. Chibuzor Nduaguda. This diverse group brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the task, ensuring a well-organized and credible delegate selection process. The committee’s mandate is to ensure fairness, transparency, and adherence to party guidelines throughout the delegate elections, setting the stage for a smooth transition to the gubernatorial primaries.

Recognizing the importance of addressing potential disputes and ensuring a fair process, the APC has also established a Delegates Congress Appeal Committee. This committee, chaired by Albert Abiodun Adeogun, will handle any complaints or appeals arising from the delegate congress. Other members of this vital committee include Ibrahim Shehu, Yakubu Bello, Abdulkadir Jajeri, and Luka Haruna. Their role is crucial in maintaining the integrity of the process and resolving any grievances in a timely and just manner, thereby upholding the principles of internal democracy within the party.

To further bolster the organizational structure and ensure efficient management of the delegate congress and appeals process, the APC has appointed a secretariat. This secretariat, composed of Sani Galadima, Owo Onyedikachi, Ahmed Gaidam, Aso Amata Othuke, and Adamu Doma, will provide essential administrative and logistical support to both committees. Their responsibilities include coordinating activities, managing communications, and ensuring the smooth flow of information between the committees and the party stakeholders. This dedicated team forms the backbone of the delegate selection process, facilitating efficient operations and communication throughout the exercise.

In an effort to ensure comprehensive oversight and efficient management of the delegate congress across all senatorial districts of Anambra State, the APC has appointed zonal coordinators. These coordinators will play a pivotal role in supervising the congress proceedings within their respective zones. Anambra North will be coordinated by Ukkasha Hamza, Jamilu Bawa, and Prince Dick Darlington. Anambra Central’s coordinators include Ogenyi Okpokwu Emmanuel, Nobert A. Sochukwudinma, and Mohammed Musa. Finally, Anambra South will be overseen by Abdul-Mutallib Kasim, Cham Paliya Sharon, and Dr. Habib Shehu. The presence of zonal coordinators ensures close monitoring of the election process, enhancing transparency and accountability at the grassroots level.

The APC’s meticulous approach in forming these committees and appointing zonal coordinators underscores its dedication to conducting a transparent and credible delegate selection process. National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, emphasized the party’s commitment to internal democracy and the importance of selecting the best candidate for the upcoming Anambra gubernatorial election. The composition of the committees reflects this commitment, with experienced and dedicated party members chosen for these crucial roles. This meticulous planning and execution aim to ensure a fair and democratic process, ultimately leading to the selection of a strong candidate who can effectively represent the party in the 2025 Anambra gubernatorial election.
