Ruth Coker-Collins, the former minister of public works in Liberia, recently emerged as a winner in the Blooms Bank Africa Star prize raffle promotion, highlighting a vibrant customer engagement initiative by the bank. To qualify for these raffles, participants must register with the bank and make a minimum deposit of 20,000 Liberian dollars. Following this, each deposit results in the automatic generation of a raffle ticket that carries the customer’s name and number. Madame Collins enhanced her chances significantly by depositing 1 million Liberian dollars, which not only generated multiple tickets but also resulted in her winning two prizes: a 3.5 KVA generator and a TV Star Motorbike.
The raffle event, organized under the supervision of the Liberian Lottery Authority, ensures transparency and fairness in the selection process. During the event in Grand Bassa County, a wheel containing the names of eligible customers was spun, with a member of the audience invited to draw the winning ticket. To confirm a winner, the bank contacts the individual three times; if they fail to answer, the ticket is disqualified, and the process continues with the next draw. Besides Madame Collins, Octis Sunny received a second prize, which was a cooking stove, emphasizing the bank’s commitment to rewarding its customers.
Chris Osisiogu, the executive director and chief operating officer of Bloom Bank, noted that the bank, formerly known as Global Bank, underwent significant challenges before being revitalized by new investors. This transformation resulted in a rebranding on January 30, 2024, with the newly named Bloom Bank Africa aiming to extend its footprint beyond Liberia to 15 other African countries within four years, including Gambia, Sierra Leone, and Ghana. He emphasized that the promotion is instrumental in attracting new customers while also fulfilling the bank’s overarching goal of fostering growth among small and medium enterprises, thereby enhancing their financial stability.
Osisiogu highlighted the importance of customer trust and accountability in the bank’s operations. He elaborated on the bank’s approach to loans, mentioning that the loan percentage is not fixed but determined by various factors including the nature of the business and the relationship between the bank and the customer. This personalized approach aims to foster a collaborative atmosphere where businesses feel supported in their growth endeavors. The bank emphasizes its commitment to the long-term financial literacy of its customers and the promotion of sustainable business practices across Africa.
Despite not being physically present at the event to collect her prizes, Madame Collins expressed her intention to visit the bank’s office on the following day to claim them. This reflects a sense of community engagement and customer service exemplified by Bloom Bank, ensuring that their clients feel valued and involved in their initiatives. The participation of previous winners like Moses Wheaton, who testified to the legitimacy of the raffle process and its positive impact on his livelihood, further underscores the bank’s successful outreach efforts.
Ultimately, Bloom Bank’s strategy revolves around nurturing relationships with its customers and adapting to their needs while expanding its regional presence. Through its raffle promotions and personalized banking services, the institution aims to solidify its role in the financial landscape of Liberia and beyond, embodying the spirit of fostering greatness within African economies. The bank’s initiatives are designed not only to attract customers but also to equip them with the necessary tools for sustainable financial success and growth in a competitive market.
