The Rastafari Council, Ghana (RCG), in partnership with the Natural Way Herbal Clinic, orchestrated a free health screening event at the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) headquarters in Accra. This initiative served as a precursor to the 10th National Rastafari Conference, a significant event on the RCG’s calendar, slated for March 1, 2025, at the Centre for National Culture (Arts Centre) in Accra. The conference, themed “Rastafari Education and Empowerment: Building Stronger Communities,” underscores the RCG’s dedication to fostering community development through education, health, and cultural preservation. This proactive approach to community well-being aligns seamlessly with the RCG’s overarching mission of promoting the teachings of Emperor Haile Selassie I and advocating for the advancement of Rastafari culture and principles within Ghana.

Established in 2009, the RCG serves as an umbrella organization for various Rastafari mansions across Ghana, including the Ethiopian World Federation (EWF), Twelve Tribes of Israel (TTI), Ruutz International, and Baifikrom Nyahbinghi House. The council’s activities extend beyond the annual conference, encompassing a wide range of cultural events, educational programs, and community outreach initiatives. These efforts aim to unify the Rastafari community and extend their message of peace, love, and unity to the wider Ghanaian society. The free health screening exemplifies this commitment, providing a tangible service that benefits both Rastafarians and the surrounding community.

The collaboration with the Natural Way Herbal Clinic highlights the RCG’s strategic partnerships in achieving its community-focused objectives. Dr. Wiafe Akenteng, CEO of the Natural Way Herbal Clinic, articulated the shared values driving this partnership, emphasizing a mutual dedication to improving the well-being of Ghanaians and ensuring access to quality healthcare. The screening exercise transcended mere identification of health issues; it served as a platform to empower individuals with the knowledge and resources to make informed decisions about their health and adopt healthier lifestyles. This proactive approach to healthcare aligns perfectly with the RCG’s holistic vision of community development.

Royal Kofi Asante, Administrator of the RCG, reiterated the organization’s commitment to the health and well-being of its community. He emphasized the RCG’s belief in health as a fundamental right and the council’s responsibility to contribute to the well-being of its members and the broader community. The health screening initiative serves as a concrete manifestation of this commitment, demonstrating the RCG’s dedication to providing access to essential healthcare services. The partnership with the Natural Way Herbal Clinic exemplifies the RCG’s collaborative approach, leveraging external expertise and resources to maximize its impact on the community.

The upcoming 10th National Rastafari Conference promises to be a pivotal event, further advancing the RCG’s mission of education and empowerment. With Prof. Imhotep Alagidede, President of the Nile Valley Metaversity and Group of Companies, as the keynote speaker, the conference is poised to deliver insightful discussions and inspire meaningful action. Prof. Alagidede follows in the footsteps of distinguished past speakers like Ras Dr. Wayne Rose, who addressed the 9th National Rastafari Conference on the crucial topic of “Political Consciousness: A Key Requirement for National Development.” This consistent focus on relevant and impactful themes demonstrates the RCG’s commitment to addressing critical issues facing the community and the nation as a whole.

The RCG’s dedication to community development through education, health initiatives, and cultural preservation positions it as a vital force for positive change in Ghana. The free health screening, in conjunction with the upcoming national conference, exemplifies the RCG’s proactive approach and its commitment to empowering individuals and building stronger, more resilient communities. By fostering partnerships and engaging in meaningful dialogue, the RCG continues to champion the values of peace, love, and unity, contributing to the overall well-being of the Ghanaian society.
