George Krobea Asante, the Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), delivered a rousing call to action to members of the Tertiary Students Confederacy of the NPP (TESCON) during the UG TESCON ALUMNI Connect and Freshers’ Orientation held at both the Legon City Campus and the Legon Main Campus. His central message emphasized the critical importance of bolstering communication efforts to effectively disseminate the party’s core values and accomplishments, particularly in the wake of the 2024 election results. Asante stressed that a robust and proactive communication strategy would be instrumental in shaping public perception and paving the way for victory in the 2028 elections. He urged TESCON members to view themselves as vital cogs in the party’s machinery, each possessing the power to contribute meaningfully to the party’s resurgence.

Asante’s address underscored the strategic significance of engaging with the student population, especially incoming freshmen, to cultivate a deeper understanding and appreciation for the NPP’s vision. He acknowledged the disappointment stemming from the 2024 elections, but commended TESCON members for their unwavering dedication and hard work during the campaign. Encouraging them to leverage the power of new media platforms, he highlighted their potential to effectively showcase the party’s achievements and counter negative narratives. He urged them to actively participate in online discussions, share compelling content, and proactively engage with their peers to build a stronger online presence for the party.

The Deputy Communications Director’s call to action extended beyond simply disseminating information; it encompassed a broader strategy of proactive engagement and persuasion. He emphasized the need to frame the party’s message in a way that resonates with young voters, addressing their concerns and aspirations. This, he argued, would necessitate a deeper understanding of the student body’s priorities and a willingness to tailor communication strategies accordingly. Asante advocated for moving beyond traditional communication methods and embracing innovative digital strategies to reach a wider audience and foster a more interactive dialogue with the electorate.

Asante’s address also served as a rallying cry for unity and renewed commitment within the party’s ranks. He acknowledged the challenges faced in the previous election cycle but emphasized the importance of learning from past experiences and moving forward with a strengthened resolve. He urged TESCON members to remain actively involved in party activities, offering their time, skills, and insights to contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of the party’s strategies. He stressed the importance of fostering a collaborative environment where members could share ideas, support each other, and work together towards a common goal.

Furthermore, Asante’s message extended beyond the immediate task of improving communication strategies. He emphasized the broader role of TESCON members in shaping the future of the NPP. He encouraged them to become active participants in policy discussions, contribute to the development of innovative solutions to national challenges, and actively engage with the wider community to build stronger relationships and foster a deeper understanding of the needs and aspirations of the Ghanaian people. He stressed the importance of nurturing future leaders within the party and empowering young members to take on greater responsibilities.

In a tangible demonstration of his support for TESCON’s initiatives, Asante made a financial contribution to aid their activities on campus. This gesture underscored the party’s commitment to investing in its youth wing and empowering them to effectively carry out their mandate. The UG TESCON ALUMNI Connect and Freshers’ Orientation event, designed to mobilize and energize the party’s youth base, was widely deemed a success. Student attendees expressed renewed enthusiasm and a strengthened commitment to the NPP’s ideals, signaling a positive outlook for the party’s future endeavors. The presence of prominent figures like Hon. Asenso Boakye, founder of TESCON and MP for Bantama; Madam Akosua Manu, former NPP 2024 Adenta parliamentary aspirant and former Deputy CEO of the National Youth Authority; and the Patron of UG TESCON further amplified the event’s significance and underscored the party’s commitment to nurturing its young leaders.
