The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has issued a stern warning to the public regarding a fraudulent online recruitment scheme circulating on the internet. The deceptive operation, hosted on the website GOLERNERSHUB.COM, falsely claims to offer a protocol recruitment portal for prospective applicants, misleading individuals seeking employment opportunities with the GIS. In an official statement released on June 2nd, the GIS unequivocally clarified that it has not authorized any individual, group, or third-party website, including GOLERNERSHUB.COM, to conduct recruitment activities or sell protocol forms on its behalf. This fraudulent activity aims to exploit unsuspecting job seekers by soliciting fees or personal information under the guise of guaranteed employment.

The GIS further emphasized that the government has not granted any clearance for a recruitment exercise at this time. This crucial point underscores the deceptive nature of the fraudulent scheme, as it falsely suggests an official recruitment process is underway. The GIS assured the public that any legitimate recruitment drive would be advertised through officially recognized and credible channels, including national newspapers and the GIS’s official platforms. This commitment to transparency aims to prevent individuals from falling prey to fraudulent schemes and ensures that all recruitment processes are conducted with integrity and accountability. The public is urged to rely solely on official communication from the GIS regarding recruitment opportunities and to treat any other solicitations with utmost suspicion.

To counter the fraudulent activity, the GIS’s Intelligence Section, in collaboration with other state security agencies, has initiated an investigation to track down the perpetrators. This collaborative effort demonstrates the seriousness with which the GIS treats this fraudulent scheme and its commitment to protecting the public from such criminal activities. The investigation will focus on gathering credible leads and evidence to apprehend and prosecute those responsible for operating the fraudulent website and engaging in deceptive recruitment practices. The involvement of multiple security agencies signifies a coordinated approach to combating online scams and ensuring the integrity of recruitment processes within the country.

The GIS strongly advised the public to disregard and report any communication or solicitation received from GOLERNERSHUB.COM or any other unofficial source claiming to represent the GIS in recruitment matters. Such reports play a vital role in assisting the ongoing investigation and preventing others from becoming victims of the scam. Individuals who encounter such fraudulent entities are strongly urged to report the incident to the appropriate authorities, including the GIS and other relevant law enforcement agencies. By reporting these instances, individuals contribute to the collective effort to dismantle fraudulent networks and protect vulnerable job seekers.

The GIS further emphasized that anyone engaging with such fraudulent entities does so entirely at their own risk. Participating in these unauthorized recruitment processes could lead to financial losses, identity theft, and other forms of exploitation. The GIS cannot be held responsible for any negative consequences arising from interactions with unauthorized individuals or websites claiming to represent the organization. The onus of verifying the legitimacy of recruitment opportunities lies with the individual, and it is crucial to exercise caution and skepticism when encountering unsolicited recruitment offers, especially those demanding fees or personal information.

The statement, signed by the Head of Public Affairs, APR M. Amoako-Atta, reiterates the GIS’s commitment to transparency and accountability in its recruitment processes. The GIS aims to maintain public trust and ensure that all individuals have equal and fair access to legitimate employment opportunities within the service. The GIS encourages the public to remain vigilant and rely only on official communication channels for credible information about recruitment exercises. By working together, the public and law enforcement agencies can effectively combat fraudulent schemes and protect vulnerable individuals from exploitation.
