The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) ushered in a new era of leadership for its Ashanti Regional chapter with the swearing-in of its newly elected executives. The ceremony, held on September 4, 2025, at the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council, formally invested the new team with a three-year mandate to guide the association’s activities in the region. The newly elected executives comprise Chairman Kofi Adu Domfe, Vice Chairman Nicholas Osei-Wusu, Secretary Beatrice Spio-Gabra, and Treasurer Dr. Neta Kris Abiana Parsram. Their election signifies a fresh wave of leadership poised to address the evolving needs and challenges of journalists in the Ashanti Region. Recognizing the power of journalism to shed light on overlooked issues and empower underrepresented groups, President Dwumfour stressed the need for the GJA Ashanti Regional chapter to actively advocate for and give voice to those often excluded from mainstream narratives.

Strengthening the association’s presence and influence within the Ashanti Region was another crucial mandate entrusted to the new leadership. Finally, President Dwumfour highlighted the importance of prioritizing the welfare of GJA members, ensuring their professional development and addressing their needs to create a supportive and empowering environment for journalistic practice.

Chairman Kofi Adu Domfe, speaking on behalf of the newly inducted executives, expressed profound gratitude for the trust and confidence placed in them by the GJA membership. He acknowledged the weight of the responsibility they were undertaking and pledged to lead with a commitment to unity, inclusivity, and progress. Mr. Domfe emphasized that their administration would prioritize fostering a sense of cohesion and collaboration among members, recognizing that a unified front would be essential for effectively advocating for journalists’ rights and interests. He further stressed the importance of creating an inclusive environment where all members, regardless of their background or experience, feel valued and empowered to contribute to the association’s growth.

The incoming chairman articulated a vision of progress for the GJA Ashanti Regional chapter, highlighting the need for continuous improvement and innovation in their approach to serving the journalistic community.
