The Living Yahweh 7th Day Sabbah Assemblies recently conducted its 2024 Annual Atonement and Charity Show Crusade, focusing on a call to national leadership to establish a designated day for charitable donations to support the less privileged. The event, themed “But as for you, you meant evil against me, but ELOHIM YAHWEH intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives” (Genesis 50:20), was marked by significant philanthropic efforts. Over three days, the church provided aid to more than 1,000 recipients across various institutions, showcasing its commitment to social responsibility and community development.

During the crusade, church leaders presented substantial donations valued at GHc 972,000, comprising various essential supplies such as 700 bags of rice, 300 bags of maize, hundreds of tubers of yam, 4,000 items of clothing, 50 wheelchairs, and more. These contributions benefitted orphanages, hospitals, security services, and other community sectors. The General Overseer and Founder of the church, Apostle Philemon Okoh Agyemang, emphasized in his sermon the necessity of national compassion towards the vulnerable, urging that the initiation of a dedicated donation day could enhance spiritual as well as social blessing within the nation.

Apostle Okoh Agyemang connected the church’s charitable efforts to biblical teachings, notably citing Proverbs 19:17: “He who is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward him for what he has done.” His message underlined the importance of directly aiding the less fortunate, such as orphans and widows, who are mentioned in scripture as deserving special attention and care. He urged Christians to cultivate an undefiled religion that advocates for compassion and service, reinforcing the spiritual reward that comes from helping those in need.

In light of the upcoming elections, the Apostle also appealed for peace among political factions, urging protection for marginalized groups including persons with disabilities. His call for unity and peaceful coexistence was echoed by Mr. Titus Glover, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, who praised the church’s humanitarian efforts. Glover, representing the New Patriotic Party (NPP), highlighted the commitment to peace during the electoral process, warning against violence and vowing to ensure those who disrupt peace would face legal consequences.

As part of the occasion, Mr. Glover and other dignitaries presented a donation of GHc100,000 from the NPP, formally supporting the church’s missions. He encouraged church members to continue their philanthropic activities and to demonstrate their support for Apostle Okoh Agyemang’s leadership. Glover’s remarks reinforced the significance of community service and highlighted the political party’s intention to maintain a peaceful atmosphere leading up to the pivotal December 2024 elections.

The Annual Atonement and Charity Show Crusade, first initiated in 2003, has become an essential tradition for the Living Yahweh 7th Day Sabbah Assemblies, annually fostering kindness and compassion within the community. This year’s event served not only as a demonstration of charitable spirit but also as a platform for promoting national unity and awareness of social responsibility. By calling for a national day dedicated to helping the less privileged, the church aims to inspire both community members and leaders throughout the nation to engage in acts of kindness that can yield significant positive change in society.
