Edward Abambire Bawa, the Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of GOIL PLC, embarked on a comprehensive working tour of the company’s subsidiary operations. This strategic initiative was designed to gain firsthand insights into the daily activities of each subsidiary, assess their progress, identify areas for potential improvement, and foster stronger collaboration across the GOIL Group. Bawa emphasized the importance of aligning all subsidiaries under a unified corporate vision, with a focus on operational efficiency, employee motivation, and achieving GOIL’s long-term strategic objectives. His direct engagement with leadership and frontline staff underscored the value he places on open communication and employee contribution to the company’s success.

The tour encompassed several key locations within the GOIL Group’s operational network, all strategically located in Tema. These included the GO Bitumen Plant, responsible for the production and supply of bitumen, a crucial component in road construction and infrastructure development. The GOIL Liquefied Bottling Plant, another stop on the tour, focuses on the bottling and distribution of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), a vital energy source for both domestic and industrial use. Ghana Bunkering Services (GBS), also visited, plays a critical role in providing fuel and other essential supplies to vessels calling at Ghanaian ports. Finally, the visit to the Central Storage Depot offered insights into GOIL’s comprehensive fuel storage and distribution infrastructure. This multi-faceted tour provided a comprehensive overview of GOIL’s diverse operations within the energy sector.

In addition to these operational visits, Bawa also prioritized engaging with employees. He made a point of visiting the GOIL Zonal Office in Kpone-Tema, where he interacted with staff, encouraged them to maintain high standards of service delivery, and reiterated the importance of their contribution to the overall success of GOIL. This demonstrable commitment to employee engagement underscores GOIL’s focus on its human capital as a key driver of its performance. By fostering open communication and recognizing employee contributions, Bawa aimed to further motivate the workforce and reinforce the company’s commitment to its employees.

Extending the scope of his engagement beyond wholly-owned GOIL subsidiaries, Bawa also visited Tema Lubes Oil Company (TLOC), a lubricants manufacturing firm in which GOIL holds a significant share and from which it sources the majority of its mineral-based lubricants. This visit highlighted the importance of strategic partnerships in GOIL’s overall business strategy and demonstrated the company’s commitment to supporting its partners. Bawa commended TLOC for its commitment to producing high-quality products, emphasizing the alignment of TLOC’s operational ethos with GOIL’s own emphasis on quality and reliability.

During his visit to TLOC, Bawa reaffirmed GOIL’s commitment to strengthening the existing partnership. He expressed optimism that the continued collaboration between the two companies would yield increased profitability and enhanced dividends for shareholders of both entities. This focus on mutual benefit underscores the strategic nature of the partnership and the importance of aligning the interests of both organizations. By working together, GOIL and TLOC aim to leverage their respective strengths to achieve shared success and deliver value to their stakeholders.

The productive relationship between GOIL and TLOC was further emphasized by Amos Donkor, Managing Director of TLOC. He described the partnership as strong and mutually beneficial, encouraging GOIL to increase its offtake of TLOC’s products to further bolster the collaboration. This suggestion reflects TLOC’s confidence in the quality of its products and its belief in the potential for even greater synergy between the two companies. This proactive approach to strengthening the partnership further reinforces the strategic importance of the relationship for both GOIL and TLOC. The collaborative approach adopted by both companies positions them well for future growth and success in the competitive lubricants market.
