Hafiz TV, a prominent pro-Islamic blog and social media platform, recently celebrated its 6th anniversary by launching a dedicated news portal in Accra. Founded in 2018, Hafiz TV has established itself as a vital source of information, education, and entertainment primarily for the Zongo and broader Muslim communities. Over the years, it has resonated with audiences not only in Ghana but across various countries, including Nigeria, Niger, Togo, Cameroon, and even developed nations like the United States and the United Kingdom. The platform’s unique efforts to highlight the culture, stories, and values of Zongo communities have significantly broadened its reach, culminating in over 40,000 YouTube subscribers and more than 3 million views across its digital platforms.

The anniversary celebrations attracted a diverse array of attendees, including chiefs, religious leaders, representatives from nonprofit organizations, ambassadors, and political figures. Many guests commended the young, dynamic team behind Hafiz TV for their dedication to reshaping the narrative around Zongo communities. They emphasized the importance of celebrating Hafiz TV’s achievements and its potential for growth, with a shared vision of solidifying its brand as a key player within the Muslim community and the broader Ghanaian society. This collective acknowledgment underscored the platform’s impact and relevance in both local and international contexts.

During the event, Mr. Sami Hanandeck, the Country Director of DirectAid Society Ghana, addressed the vital role of journalists, likening their influence to that of healthcare professionals and lawyers. He urged attendees to appreciate the work of journalists, highlighting their responsibility as the voice of the people. This recognition serves as a crucial reminder of the power of media in shaping public discourse and the societal narratives surrounding communities, such as those represented by Hafiz TV. The comments resonated with the mission of Hafiz TV, reinforcing the importance of their work in promoting awareness and fostering community engagement.

Despite its past successes, Hafiz TV’s CEO, Hafiz Larry, outlined some challenges the platform currently faces, particularly regarding its operational limitations. He disclosed that the company is functioning from a temporary workspace, lacking adequate logistics and equipment necessary for producing high-quality content that the community deserves. The need for advanced tools and infrastructure — such as cameras, lighting, professional editing software, and a proper studio — was emphasized, as these resources are crucial for enhancing the platform’s potential and expanding its audience reach.

Larry articulated a passionate appeal for support from both the Muslim community and the general public, framing Hafiz TV not merely as a media outlet but as a “Sadakatul Jariya” — a charitable initiative that offers lasting benefits beyond immediate contributions. He emphasized that every donation, regardless of size, can make a significant difference in providing the essential resources needed to elevate the platform’s capabilities. This call to action underlines the broader goal of Hafiz TV: to disseminate beneficial knowledge, uplift the community, and create a legacy that will continue to serve future generations.

As Hafiz TV embarks on this new chapter marked by the launch of its news portal and a commitment to overcoming its operational challenges, the support and engagement of the community are more essential than ever. By investing in infrastructure and resources, Hafiz TV aims to produce more impactful content, host live shows, and further develop its storytelling abilities. This strategic growth is positioned to enhance not just the platform’s visibility and influence but also to cultivate a positive narrative around Zongo communities and the Muslim population as a whole, ensuring that their stories are told and celebrated in a meaningful way.
