The Busuama Health Centre, a vital healthcare facility serving the community of Busuama in the Kintampo North Municipality, received a much-needed boost through a generous donation spearheaded by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Isaac Donkor. The donation, a collaborative effort involving AT Johns Group of Companies Ltd and the Concerned Health Professionals of Busuama (CHoPAB), aimed to address the challenges faced by the health centre due to years of neglect, thereby enhancing healthcare delivery for the local population. Hon. Donkor, a native of Busuama, demonstrated his commitment to his community by taking a leading role in this initiative.
The donated items significantly strengthened the health centre’s capacity to provide quality care. Ten new hospital beds were provided to enhance patient comfort and accommodate more individuals seeking medical attention. Recognizing the importance of maternal care, a complete delivery set and a Doppler machine were included to improve the safety and monitoring of childbirth. Surgical capabilities were bolstered with the addition of suturing instruments and a circumcision set. Respiratory care was addressed through the donation of a nebulizer, while five ceiling fans were installed to improve ventilation and overall patient comfort within the facility.
The donation ceremony was a significant event for the Busuama community, bringing together various stakeholders invested in the health centre’s future. The Chief and elders of Busuama, along with community members, health workers, and representatives from the Municipal Health Directorate, attended the event. Political figures, including the Assemblyman for Busuama, the NDC Communications Officer, and other party members, were also present, highlighting the collaborative nature of the initiative.
Hon. Donkor expressed his gratitude to AT Johns Group for their generous contribution and acknowledged the relief it provided to his office in addressing the health centre’s needs. He emphasized the importance of community involvement and urged other Busuama citizens to contribute to the ongoing improvement of the facility. Addressing a critical gap in the health centre’s services, he pledged to work with the Municipal Health Directorate to deploy a lab technician, enabling faster and more efficient testing and diagnosis for patients.
Following the ceremony, the MCE conducted a tour of the health centre, gaining firsthand insight into the facility’s condition. The tour revealed several pressing concerns, including a leaking roof, inadequate lighting, and poor ventilation. Hon. Donkor assured the health workers and the community that his office would take immediate action to address these infrastructural challenges, further demonstrating his commitment to improving the health centre’s operational capacity.
The event concluded on an optimistic note, instilling hope within the Busuama community for continued support and improvement in healthcare services. Hon. Donkor reiterated his commitment to prioritizing health and development projects, focusing on initiatives that would bring tangible benefits to the lives of the people in Busuama and throughout Kintampo North. This event marked a crucial step towards revitalizing the Busuama Health Centre, signifying a renewed focus on providing accessible and quality healthcare for the community. The collaboration between government officials, private sector partners, and the community itself served as a powerful example of the positive impact collective action can have in addressing local needs.
