The National Association of Nigeria Traditional Medicine Practitioners (NANTMP), Kogi Chapter, has issued a stern warning to its members against colluding with cybercriminals, popularly known as “Yahoo Boys,” and other criminal elements operating within the state. Chief Ibrahim Amodu, Chairman of the Kogi NANTMP and Onu Igala, Otto-Awori Lagos, expressed deep concern over reports of some traditional medicine practitioners providing charms and other forms of assistance to these criminals, thereby facilitating their illicit activities. He emphasized the association’s commitment to upholding the integrity of traditional medicine practice and distancing itself from any association with criminal behavior. The NANTMP’s newly established code of practice explicitly prohibits members from aiding and abetting criminal acts, underscoring the organization’s determination to address this issue decisively.
Chief Amodu stressed that traditional medicine, or Trado-med, is intended for benevolent purposes, promoting healing and well-being, and should not be misused for nefarious activities.
