In a recent tour of the Volta Region, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), received overwhelming support from the Chiefs and people of Kpando. Engaging with local leaders, religious figures, and community members, Dr. Bawumia’s visit underscored the growing confidence in his leadership as he aspires to become the next President of Ghana. During the visit, Togbe Dagadu IX, the Paramount Chief of Kpando, acknowledged the Vice President’s role in various development initiatives led by the current government, emphasizing their significant impact on the Kpando community.

Togbe Dagadu IX commended the government for a range of projects, including the highly praised free Senior High School (SHS) policy, while focusing specifically on local developments that have benefitted Kpando. He noted the establishment of a new municipal assembly complex, which was met with jubilation from local government officials, as well as the construction of an audit service building and a business advisory center. Additionally, he mentioned the construction of staff bungalows for municipal assembly workers and judges, highlighting the material benefits and improvements experienced by the community through these projects.

The Paramount Chief expressed the community’s gratitude to Dr. Bawumia for the government’s efforts and voiced their high hopes for his potential presidency. He placed particular emphasis on the need for continued support in the area, requesting the completion of the rehabilitation of the Kpando Health Centre and the upgrading of the Kpando Technical Institute to a tertiary level. Furthermore, he urged for enhancements to the Bishop Herman Senior High School, pointing out specific areas where further assistance could benefit the community.

In a ceremonial gesture of support, the Chiefs and people of Kpando presented Dr. Bawumia with a traditional smock, symbolizing their readiness to collaborate and work alongside him in the future. During his address, Togbe Dagadu IX stated, “Kpando is your home,” indicating the alignment and goodwill towards Dr. Bawumia’s leadership vision within the local populace. He affirmed that many residents strongly support the Vice President and believed that his presence infused the town with positive energy and hope.

Dr. Bawumia reacted to the warm hospitality and enthusiastic reception from the Kpando community with gratitude, pledging to address their concerns and requirements if elected as President.
