The Governor, represented by Commissioner for Tertiary Education Sa’adatu Modibbo-Kawu, highlighted the state government’s pride in the graduating class and the successful partnership with the Nigerian Army. These newly minted pilots completed six months of intensive training, acquiring not just a certificate but a comprehensive set of skills and values essential for success in their chosen field. The Governor commended the entire college community – management, staff, and students – for their unwavering commitment to maintaining the institution’s high standards and contributing to its continued growth. Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, addressed the graduates through Brigadier General Ezra Barkins, emphasizing the significance of the training in strengthening the Nigerian Army’s aviation capabilities. He highlighted that this initiative will reshape the battlefield by enhancing operational effectiveness and air mobility. The graduates were urged to uphold the core values of the Nigerian Army – including focus, resilience, and teamwork – to overcome challenges and build a lasting legacy. The graduating class also received words of wisdom and encouragement from Captain Yakubu Okahtai, Rector of the International Aviation College. He explained that the Private Pilot License (PPL) earned by the graduates marks a crucial step in their aviation journey, serving as a gateway to advanced training and operational roles. He stressed that the PPL training instilled not only flying skills but also fundamental qualities like discipline, precision, and responsibility, essential for both civilian and military aviation. Okahtai acknowledged the instrumental role of the Kwara State Government in the success of the training program. He emphasized the importance of the synergy between the Nigerian Army and the Kwara State Government, highlighting how this collaboration has not only contributed to the success of the training program but has set the stage for future endeavors in producing highly skilled military pilots.

Since March 2022, under the current management, the college has proudly graduated 62 students, demonstrating its sustained contribution to the aviation industry. Lieutenant Smart Ebube Aghogho, speaking on behalf of the graduating pilots, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the college’s management, instructors, and the Nigerian Army. He commended the expertise and support they received during their training, highlighting the challenges overcome through rigorous study, weekend classes, flight training, and various assessments. This acknowledgment underscores the collective effort involved in shaping these individuals into competent pilots.
A particularly inspiring story among the graduates is that of Musa Aliu Damilola, the star civilian graduate. Damilola’s journey began with a childhood passion for aviation, which he pursued by building mini planes and drones. His talent and determination were recognized by Governor AbdulRazaq, who sponsored his PPL training at the International Aviation College. Damilola’s story is a testament to the power of pursuing one’s dreams with dedication and the potential for support from government and institutions to nurture exceptional talent. Now, he is pursuing his Commercial Pilot License (CPL), further demonstrating his commitment to a career in aviation.
