The Kwara State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) has announced the commencement of its recruitment process for teaching positions across the state. The application portal, accessible at https://tescom.kwarastate.gov.ng, will open at midnight on Wednesday and close on February 14th. Interested candidates are encouraged to access the portal and carefully review the application guidelines and the previously released press statement outlining the recruitment process. The commission emphasizes the importance of adhering to the stipulated criteria and advises individuals without the requisite qualifications to refrain from applying. Specifically, applicants must possess university degrees in relevant subject areas, while holders of the Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) without university degrees are not eligible.

The TESCOM recruitment process is designed to ensure a fair and transparent selection of qualified candidates. Following the application period, shortlisted candidates who meet the initial criteria will be invited to participate in a Computer-Based Test (CBT). These tests will be administered at designated centers conveniently located near the applicants’ local government areas of residence. This approach aims to minimize logistical challenges for candidates and facilitate wider participation. The CBT will assess the applicants’ knowledge, skills, and aptitude in relevant subject areas, contributing to a merit-based selection process.

Successful candidates who progress beyond the CBT stage will undergo further screening, including mandatory drug tests conducted at approved centers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). This critical step underscores the commission’s commitment to ensuring a drug-free and conducive learning environment within its schools. Additional verification exercises will be conducted as part of the due diligence process before employment letters are issued to successful candidates.

The TESCOM recruitment process places significant emphasis on a balanced assessment of qualifications, competence, employability, and the willingness to serve in underserved areas. The commission recognizes the critical need for qualified teachers in rural and remote communities across Kwara State. Therefore, the selection process will prioritize candidates who demonstrate a commitment to serving in these areas, contributing to improved educational access and quality across the state. This focus aligns with the broader goal of equitable distribution of educational resources and opportunities for all learners in Kwara State.

Applicants are strongly advised to thoroughly familiarize themselves with the application guidelines and requirements available on the portal before submitting their applications. This will ensure that they meet all the necessary criteria and avoid potential disqualification. The commission emphasizes the importance of accuracy and completeness in providing information during the application process. Applicants are also encouraged to regularly check the portal for updates and announcements regarding the recruitment process.

The TESCOM’s commitment to transparency and meritocracy underscores its dedication to attracting and retaining highly qualified teachers to strengthen the education sector in Kwara State. By emphasizing a rigorous and comprehensive selection process, the commission aims to build a strong and dedicated teaching workforce capable of delivering quality education to students across the state. This initiative reflects the state government’s investment in human capital development and its commitment to improving educational outcomes for all learners.
