The La Dadekotopon Municipal Assembly (LADMA) is poised to unveil its comprehensive Long-Term Development Plan, a blueprint designed to transform La into a modern, inclusive, and digitally advanced municipality. Scheduled for launch on July 22, 2025, at the Labadi Beach Hotel, the plan, themed “Shaping Our Destiny: A Roadmap for Transformation and Prosperity,” reflects LADMA’s commitment to people-centered development, prioritizing key areas such as education, healthcare, sanitation, infrastructure, economic inclusion, environmental stewardship, and digital transformation. The plan aims to establish a thriving and sustainable community, offering enhanced services and opportunities for all residents.
Central to LADMA’s vision is a focus on improving access to quality education and healthcare. The plan outlines strategies to upgrade existing schools, enhance teacher support, and bolster community health infrastructure to cultivate a healthier and more equitable population. Simultaneously, economic empowerment takes center stage, with plans to expand support for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), foster youth innovation, and generate local employment opportunities. Recognizing the importance of inclusivity, the plan emphasizes targeted support for vulnerable populations, including persons with disabilities, the elderly, and low-income families, ensuring that development efforts reach all segments of the community.
Environmental management and climate resilience constitute another crucial pillar of the plan. LADMA aims to address La’s persistent sanitation and flooding challenges through investments in modernized drainage systems, comprehensive waste management reforms, and impactful environmental conservation projects. Furthermore, the plan showcases a strong emphasis on digital transformation, with a target to digitize 70% of service delivery within the next decade. This digital push is expected to enhance efficiency, transparency, and accessibility for residents, supported by a comprehensive capacity-building program for Assembly staff.
Recognizing the significance of cultural heritage, the plan prioritizes cultural preservation and tourism promotion. LADMA intends to revitalize historical sites, celebrate traditional festivals, and support the creative arts to cultivate local pride and generate economic opportunities. These initiatives are aligned with LADMA’s vision of fostering a vibrant and culturally rich community.
The plan’s ambitious goals are underpinned by a robust implementation framework. This framework incorporates clear performance indicators, strategic funding mechanisms, legal safeguards, and robust stakeholder engagement, ensuring accountability and effective execution. Expected outcomes include the creation of over 5,000 jobs, significant infrastructure upgrades, expanded essential services, and a more agile and accountable local government. The launch event will also unveil LADMA’s refreshed brand identity, symbolizing the municipality’s forward-looking approach.
The launch is anticipated to be a high-profile event, with attendance expected from ministers of state, diplomats, development partners, traditional rulers, and private sector leaders. Mr. Alfredos Nii Anyetei, the Municipal Chief Executive, has described the plan as a “bold step into the future,” emphasizing its significance in not just addressing current challenges, but also laying the foundation for a stronger, more prosperous, and united La for generations to come. The plan marks a significant milestone in LADMA’s journey towards creating a model municipality that balances economic development with social progress and environmental sustainability.
