Members of the Ladies Network for Dr. Bawumia in the Akan Constituency, located within the Oti Region, have been urged to actively engage in efforts to secure a formidable voter turnout in the upcoming December 7 elections. During a recent meeting, the President of the Ladies Network for Dr. Bawumia, Ms. Abigail Obenewah, emphasized the necessity of “connecting to the right signal” to enhance the party’s chances of success. She highlighted the importance of commitment and urged the women to overcome any sense of complacency. Ms. Obenewah encouraged an intensive campaign strategy involving door-to-door outreach and personal engagements to ensure a decisive victory for their party. Such grassroots efforts are viewed as essential in galvanizing support and ensuring that the National Patriotic Party (NPP) prevails in the Oti region.

In her speech, Hajia Murjanet Ibrahim, who is an aide to Mrs. Samira Bawumia, underscored the need for unity among voters, particularly among the Muslim community. She pointed to the historical support Dr. Bawumia has from Christians and urged Muslims to reciprocate this by turning out en masse to support their “own brother.” Her comments reflect a broader strategy to solidify the base of support for Dr. Bawumia by fostering a sense of shared identity and mutual support within religious communities. This appeal aims to mobilize the Muslim electorate, emphasizing the idea that failing to support their candidate would equate to a loss for the entire community.

Mr. Maxwell Kofi Asiedu, a former District Chief Executive for Kadjebi, also spoke to supporters regarding the importance of converting members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to the NPP. He urged party members to highlight the achievements of the government, such as the Free Senior High School (FSHS) policy and the Agenda 111 Hospital projects. He asserted that these successful initiatives should be used as persuasive tools to win over undecided voters and former NDC members. Mr. Asiedu acknowledged that while the party’s victory seems likely, it is crucial for them to gain votes from outside their traditional base to secure the overall win.

The Ladies Network for Dr. Bawumia functions as a dedicated campaign group aimed at fostering support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s presidential candidate. This initiative primarily focuses on engaging women in political advocacy and mobilizing grassroots support. The network’s importance is further underscored by their strategic focus on personal connections and localized efforts to enhance voter engagement. The need for diversity in outreach methods and the transformation of individual support into collective political action are critical points in their campaign strategy.

The event culminated with Mr. Jonathan Akpabey Manu, the Oti Regional Secretary of the NPP, officiating the swearing-in of network members, thereby reinforcing their commitment to the campaign. This formality not only solidifies their positions within the party’s structure but also serves to energize their efforts moving forward. The activation of women in leadership roles highlights the intention of the NPP to broaden its appeal and ensure substantial representation within its ranks, particularly as they prepare for a competitive electoral landscape.

As the December 7 elections approach, the urgency of these messages from leaders within the Ladies Network for Dr. Bawumia and the NPP is palpable. Their focus on unity, strategic outreach, and the celebration of achievements of the current government drives home the necessity for active participation among supporters. By mobilizing grassroots efforts and creating a strong network of advocates, they aim to foster an environment where collective action translates to electoral success. Ultimately, the campaign anticipates that such proactive strategies will lead to a strong showing for Dr. Bawumia and a corresponding victory for the NPP in the Oti region.
