The United Nations International Organization for Migration (IOM), in collaboration with the Liberian government and funded by the African Development Bank, has launched a pioneering initiative to bolster diaspora engagement and stimulate economic development in Liberia. This project, titled “Streamlining Diaspora Engagement to Catalyze Private Investments and Entrepreneurship for Enhanced Resilience” (SDE4R), marks a significant step towards harnessing the potential of Liberians abroad to contribute to their homeland’s progress. SDE4R is a pilot continental project being implemented across eight African nations, including Liberia, and is designed to forge stronger links between diaspora communities and their countries of origin.
The official launch of the Diaspora Engagement Task Force (DETF) in Monrovia signifies Liberia’s commitment to this initiative.
