Former President John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, delivered a heartfelt endorsement for Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, the sitting Member of Parliament (MP) for Ellembelle. At a campaign rally in Kamgbunli, Mahama praised Buah as an “invaluable asset” not only to Ellembelle and Nzema Land but also to the NDC as a party and to Ghana as a whole. This proclamation came during a three-day campaign tour in the Western Region ahead of the December 7 elections. Mahama, emphasizing his personal experience working with Buah during his tenure as Vice-President and subsequently as President, highlighted Buah’s commendable contributions to the energy sector and his dedication to public service.

Reflecting on Buah’s career, Mahama recalled how he first recognized Buah’s capabilities when he served as Deputy Minister for Energy in the previous government. Impressed by Buah’s performance, Mahama appointed him as the substantive Minister for Energy and Petroleum during his first term. This appointment underscored Mahama’s belief in Buah’s competencies and integrity. The NDC flagbearer articulated that Buah was among the top cabinet ministers who diligently worked with integrity, showcasing his unwavering commitment to the development of their shared goals.

Mahama’s rallying cry urged constituents to support Mr. Buah in retaining his parliamentary seat and to also elect him (Mahama) as President in the upcoming elections. By doing so, he posited, the people of Ellembelle would not only secure strong local representation but also support the NDC’s return to governance starting January 7, 2025. The alignment of Buah’s continued service with Mahama’s leadership was positioned as essential for the progression of their constituency and the nation at large.

In response to Mahama’s endorsement, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah expressed his gratitude to the voters of Ellembelle, the NDC, and Mahama for allowing him the opportunity to serve. Emphasizing his dedication to advancing the development agenda of Ellembelle, the Western Region, and Ghana, Buah expressed optimism about the forthcoming elections. His confidence in a cooperative victory with Mahama reflected a collective vision for future leadership, where both figures would work toward together enhancing social, infrastructural, and economic conditions in the region.

The political dynamics of the rally illustrated a broader strategy aimed at consolidating support for the NDC among constituents who may be influenced by Mahama’s esteemed opinion of Buah. The underpinning message of loyalty to party members and continuity in governance resonated throughout Mahama’s speeches, solidifying their commitment to collaborating on initiatives that would bolster local and national progress.

Both Mahama and Buah demonstrated their shared aspirations for the future of Ellembelle and Ghana, drawing upon their proven track records in governance to motivate voters. As the election date looms, the highlighted synergy between the NDC’s veteran leadership and committed local representatives serves to galvanize support amidst the electorate, seeking to empower them through informed voting for meaningful change and development in the subsequent term.
