The Marigold Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving lives across Ghana, recently launched its annual Dental and Health Screening and Donation Drive in Agona Kwaman, Central Region. Partnering with the Rotary Clubs of Chicago and Dallas, among others, the Foundation provided free healthcare services to over 600 residents from Agona Kwaman and its surrounding communities. The initiative underscores the Foundation’s commitment to accessible healthcare, particularly in underserved areas. The launch event served as the starting point for a series of planned health screenings across multiple districts, reflecting the Foundation’s dedication to bringing healthcare directly to communities.

The driving force behind this initiative, Hon. Mrs. Justina Marigold Assan, Founder of the Marigold Foundation and former Central Regional Minister, highlighted the often-neglected nature of dental health, particularly amongst children. She expressed concern about the increasing prevalence of dental diseases and emphasized the need for collaborative efforts to raise awareness and improve access to dental care. Mrs. Assan stressed the crucial need for such interventions, noting the financial constraints that often prevent individuals from seeking necessary medical attention, aligning with the Foundation’s philosophy of “Service to Mankind is Service to God.” The focus on children’s dental health underscores the Foundation’s proactive approach to preventative care and its commitment to the well-being of future generations.

The free dental and medical check-ups offered during the drive were accompanied by health education sessions, providing valuable information and empowering individuals to take control of their health. The distribution of essential donations further complemented the medical services, providing tangible support to families and individuals in need. The comprehensive approach, combining preventative care, education, and material support, reflects the Foundation’s understanding of the multifaceted nature of community health and well-being.

Mrs. Assan celebrated the success of the launch event, attributing it to the dedicated team of healthcare professionals, volunteers, and the enthusiastic participation of the community. She expressed gratitude for the collective effort that made the event a resounding success and highlighted the importance of community engagement in achieving positive health outcomes. The positive response from the community demonstrates the significant need for accessible healthcare services and the impact that initiatives like this can have.

The Chief of Agona Kwaman, Nana Opeiku Yeboah VI, expressed his profound gratitude to the Marigold Foundation and its partners for bringing such crucial healthcare services to his community. He emphasized the timeliness and impact of the initiative, recognizing the significant contribution it made to the well-being of his people. The acknowledgment from local leadership further emphasizes the importance of collaboration between community organizations and traditional authorities in addressing healthcare needs.

Building on the momentum of the successful launch in Agona Kwaman, the Marigold Foundation announced its plans to extend the Dental and Health Screening and Donation Drive to other districts, including Gomoa Brofoyedur in the Gomoa Central District and Senya Bereku in the Awutu-Senya West District. This commitment to reaching multiple communities underscores the Foundation’s dedication to expanding its reach and ensuring that its services are accessible to a wider population. The iterative approach of holding screenings in different locations demonstrates a sustained commitment to improving healthcare access across the region. The Foundation’s broader mission, encompassing not only healthcare but also quality education, clean drinking water, environmental sanitation, and other vital social services, highlights its holistic approach to community development and its dedication to fostering a healthier and more prosperous future for all Ghanaians.
