Dr. Kwame Minta Nyarku, the Member of Parliament for Cape Coast North, has presented a comprehensive account of his accomplishments within his first 120 days in office, highlighting a range of initiatives spanning education, infrastructure, and community development. Despite a demanding parliamentary schedule, including crucial budget sessions and international travel, Dr. Nyarku, also known as Ragga, has prioritized projects aimed at enhancing the lives of his constituents and beyond. His early efforts underscore a commitment to accessible education, improved infrastructure, and a focus on youth development, setting the stage for further progress in the months to come.

One of Dr. Nyarku’s most significant achievements within this timeframe was the complete renovation of the Duakor Basic School. The school, previously plagued by a leaking roof, damaged walls, and broken partitions, had deteriorated to a point where learning was significantly disrupted, particularly during periods of rainfall. Recognizing the urgent need for intervention, Dr. Nyarku made the school’s renovation a priority, ensuring a more conducive learning environment for the students. This project not only addresses a pressing need within the constituency but also serves as a tangible example of his commitment to improving educational infrastructure.

Beyond his immediate constituency, Dr. Nyarku has also demonstrated a broader commitment to education. His donation of 100 bags of cement, along with sand and stones, to OLA Training College for the construction of an infirmary exemplifies this dedication. This gesture, extending beyond his constituency lines, underscores his belief in supporting educational institutions and the overall well-being of students, regardless of their geographical location. This act of generosity demonstrates his commitment to serving a wider community and prioritizing the health and well-being of future generations.

Furthermore, Dr. Nyarku’s investment in community development goes beyond education. His contribution of ¢20,000 towards the construction of a sports facility at Casford Hall, where he served as President, reflects his long-standing interest in youth development and sports. This investment demonstrates a holistic approach to community-building, recognizing the importance of recreational facilities in promoting healthy lifestyles and fostering a sense of community among young people. This aligns with his broader vision of promoting well-rounded development within the community.

Looking ahead, Dr. Nyarku has outlined ambitious plans for further development within Cape Coast North. These include the renovation of ten additional basic schools across the constituency, signifying a sustained effort to upgrade educational infrastructure and ensure equitable access to quality education for all children. At the tertiary level, he aims to collaborate with the Minister of Education to secure funding for completing the School of Business property at the University of Cape Coast and the unfinished auditorium at Cape Coast Technical University. He also identifies Nkamfua Vocational School as requiring intervention to enhance its performance. These initiatives indicate a comprehensive strategy aimed at improving educational opportunities across all levels.

Perhaps the most impactful announcement for the constituency is the allocation of 10 kilometers of asphalted road to each MP. Dr. Nyarku has already identified key areas within his constituency for this project, including Fourth Ridge, Basakrom, the road from Kwawprow to Ankaful, the Ankaful enclave, Dahia roads, Pedu Estate internal roads, the road from Arafin Guest House through Seminary, the GNFS road, the Akaikrom area, and the Mpeasem enclave. This project aligns with the president’s national agenda to improve inner-city roads, contributing significantly to improved transportation and connectivity within the constituency. This initiative promises to enhance accessibility, boost local businesses, and improve the overall quality of life for residents. These ambitious plans demonstrate a clear vision for the future of Cape Coast North, prioritizing education, infrastructure development, and the overall well-being of the community. As Dr. Nyarku continues his “Thank You Tour,” his ongoing engagement with constituents will be crucial in ensuring that these projects address their needs effectively and contribute to a brighter future for Cape Coast North.
