MobileMoney (MoMo), a prominent mobile money platform, has launched a nationwide campaign dubbed “Shine Your Eye” to combat the rising tide of fraud and reinforce customer trust. This initiative aims to educate MoMo users about prevalent fraudulent tactics and empower them to protect their funds. The campaign underscores MoMo’s unwavering commitment to customer security and maintaining the integrity of its platform, which has played a significant role in driving financial inclusion.

A core message of the “Shine Your Eye” campaign revolves around safeguarding personal information. MoMo customers are strongly advised never to disclose their PINs or OTPs to anyone, regardless of who they claim to be. This includes individuals posing as MoMo or MTN staff. Customers should also avoid allowing others to conduct transactions on their behalf. Fraudsters often employ manipulative tactics, such as enticing users with fake promotions or requesting them to click on suspicious links. By remaining vigilant and adhering to these precautions, customers can significantly reduce their vulnerability to fraud.

MoMo has established multiple channels for customers to report suspected fraudulent activity. These include emailing [email protected], using the MoMo app, or calling 100. Reporting such incidents is crucial as it enables MoMo to blacklist fraudulent numbers and agents, thereby preventing further harm. Over the years, customer reports have been instrumental in identifying and neutralizing numerous fraudsters. This collaborative effort between MoMo and its user base is vital in maintaining the security of the platform.
