The Island Muslim Community (IMC), an umbrella organization representing Muslims in Victoria Island, Ikoyi, Lekki Scheme 1, and Ibeju-Lekki areas of Lagos State, has embarked on an ambitious N5 billion social intervention project aimed at addressing critical gaps in healthcare and education within the Muslim community. The IMC has identified key areas of intervention, including the development of Shariah-compliant cemeteries. Recognizing the importance of respectful burial practices in accordance with Islamic tenets, the IMC is actively developing a 10,000 sqm cemetery in Ikorodu, along with premium cemeteries in Akodo and Ibeju-Lekki. These dedicated burial grounds will ensure that Muslim families have access to appropriate facilities for their deceased loved ones. Furthermore, the IMC plans to establish a state-of-the-art hospital specifically catering to the healthcare needs of women and children.
