Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule recently presented a budget proposal of N382.57 billion for 2025 to the State House of Assembly, which he named the “Budget of Economic Growth and Stability.” The Governor expressed optimism that the Assembly would facilitate the swift passage of the budget, which is a balanced mix of recurrent and capital expenditures. Specifically, the budget is allocated with N159.97 billion, or 41.82%, designated for recurrent expenditure, while a substantial N222.60 billion, amounting to 58.18%, is earmarked for capital expenditure.
In a detailed breakdown of the proposed budget, the Governor announced significant allocations for several key sectors that are crucial for the development and well-being of the state’s residents. Notable mentions include N80.14 billion for the Administrative Sector, N139.84 billion for the Economic Sector, N10.61 billion for Law and Justice, and N151.97 billion for the Social Sector. The emphasis on these areas underscores the administration’s strategic focus on enhancing economic recovery and stability, with particular prioritization of sectors that underpin the state’s overall growth trajectory.
During the presentation, Governor Sule extended his gratitude to the Speaker, Danladi Jatau, and the Assembly’s members for their unwavering support in the legislative process, particularly in the passage of appropriation bills. Major allocations include N78.16 billion for Education, Science & ICT, N71.70 billion for Infrastructure, N50.75 billion for Governance, Security & General Administration, N36.20 billion for Health, and N36.07 billion for Agriculture & Water Resources. These allocations are designed to propel forward the state’s infrastructure development, enhance educational outcomes, and bolster the health sector, all while ensuring food security and resource management.
The presentation also included an assurance that the state government would implement the new minimum wage to reflect current economic realities. Governor Sule emphasized the readiness of his administration to facilitate this implementation as soon as the necessary committee reports are submitted.
