The Navrongo Traditional Council has vehemently denounced a recent press conference held in Navrongo, labeling it a calculated campaign of misinformation orchestrated by individuals falsely posing as traditional authorities. The council asserts that the event, held on April 16, 2025, was a deliberate attempt to undermine the authority of the reigning Navro-Pio, Asagepare II, and disrupt a legitimate process of elevation within the traditional leadership structure. The council’s spokesperson categorically dismissed the participants of the press conference as impostors, mercenaries, and political puppets with no legitimate standing within the Navrongo Traditional Area. Their actions, according to the council, represent a documented pattern of interference in Navrongo’s internal affairs, driven by self-serving agendas and a blatant disregard for customary procedures.

The council firmly rejected the notion of any existing chieftaincy crisis within Navrongo, emphasizing that the only discernible threat stems from the unethical manipulation of media platforms and state institutions by unseen influencers. These individuals, according to the council, falsely present themselves as stakeholders in matters that fall outside their legal, geographical, and customary jurisdiction. They exploit these platforms to spread disinformation and sow discord within the traditional area. The council maintains that the ongoing elevation process within the traditional hierarchy is proceeding in accordance with established customs and enjoys the full support of legitimate stakeholders.

The Navrongo Traditional Council underscored that the legitimate kingmakers have publicly disassociated themselves from the aforementioned press conference, exposing it as a staged fabrication designed to mislead the National House of Chiefs and the Ghanaian public. They reiterate that Navro-Pio Asagepare II remains the sole legitimate President of the Navrongo Traditional Council, vested with the authority, both customary and constitutional, to initiate and oversee traditional leadership transitions. The council highlighted the meticulous adherence to established procedures in the current elevation initiative, further emphasizing the broad-based support it enjoys within the traditional area.

The council further elaborated on the spurious claims made at the press conference, characterizing them as a desperate attempt to seize control of Navrongo’s traditional leadership through deceitful means. It warned against these disruptive tactics, emphasizing the importance of upholding the integrity of Navrongo’s customs and traditions. The council stressed its resolve to resist such manipulative maneuvers, emphasizing the unwavering support for the legitimate Navro-Pio and the established processes of leadership succession within the traditional area. This unwavering commitment, according to the council, reflects the will of the true stakeholders in Navrongo’s cultural heritage.

The council issued a strong call to action, urging the media and public institutions to exercise due diligence and verify the credentials of individuals presenting themselves as representatives of the Navrongo Traditional Area. It cautioned against providing a platform to unsubstantiated claims that could undermine the legitimacy of long-standing cultural institutions. This call for responsible reporting, the council emphasized, is crucial to preventing the spread of misinformation and safeguarding the integrity of traditional governance within Navrongo. The council reiterated its commitment to transparency and urged all stakeholders to rely on verified information channels for accurate updates on matters pertaining to the traditional area.

Finally, the Navrongo Traditional Council affirmed its unwavering resolve to protect the integrity of its customs and traditions against those seeking to exploit them for personal gain. It stressed the importance of unity within the traditional area and called for continued vigilance against the spread of false narratives. The council expressed confidence in the resilience of its cultural institutions and vowed to remain steadfast in its pursuit of justice and the preservation of its heritage. The council’s forceful response to the press conference serves as a clear warning against further attempts to destabilize the traditional leadership and undermine the customs of the Navrongo people.
