Mouka, a leading mattress and bedding company in Nigeria, ushered in the new year with a heartwarming celebration of life, marking the arrival of 2025 by honoring the first babies born across the nation. This annual tradition, extending across thirteen states, underscores Mouka’s deep-rooted commitment to community engagement and its mission to enhance the well-being of Nigerian families. The initiative, a testament to the company’s corporate social responsibility, brought joy and essential baby products to numerous families, reinforcing Mouka’s position not just as a business entity, but as a caring partner invested in the future of Nigeria.

The celebrations, strategically organized in partnership with public hospitals across a diverse range of states, including Lagos, Oyo, Imo, Abia, Enugu, Akwa Ibom, Edo, Gombe, Kano, and Plateau, involved the distribution of thoughtfully curated gift packages. These packages contained a selection of Mouka’s premium products, including the specially designed Dreamtime Baby Mattress, known for its supportive qualities crucial for a baby’s developing spine. In addition to the mattresses, the gifts included soft pillows, essential nappies, and a range of baby care items, providing new parents with a welcome starter kit for their newborns. This comprehensive approach demonstrated Mouka’s understanding of the practical needs of new families and its commitment to providing tangible support.

In Lagos, the heart of Nigeria’s commercial activity, the celebrations were elevated with the gracious presence of the First Lady, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, who joined Mouka in honoring the newborns and their families. The collaborative effort between the First Lady and Mouka amplified the impact of the initiative, highlighting its significance and underscoring the importance of public-private partnerships in supporting community well-being. The festivities took place across three key hospitals – Isolo General Hospital, Ifako-Ijaiye General Hospital, and Ikorodu General Hospital – where the joyous atmosphere was palpable as families received the carefully prepared gifts. A unique touch was added to the celebrations at Ifako-Ijaiye General Hospital, where a special gathering brought together the first babies born in Lagos from 2020 to 2024, creating a sense of continuity and community.

The first babies born in Lagos in 2025 each had their own unique story to tell. At Ikorodu General Hospital, Baby Olaolu, a girl weighing 2.75 kg, entered the world at 12:34 a.m., claiming the title of the first baby born in Lagos in the new year. Ifako-Ijaiye General Hospital witnessed the arrival of twins, Osayomi and her brother, just minutes apart. Osayomi, weighing 2.5 kg, was born at 12:14 a.m., followed closely by her brother at 12:15 a.m., weighing 2.49 kg. Adding to the joyous occasion, Isolo General Hospital welcomed Baby Lawal, a boy weighing 2.7 kg, at 1:32 a.m. These new arrivals, each representing a new beginning and the promise of the future, were at the center of Mouka’s New Year celebrations.

Representing Mouka’s Chief Commercial Officer, Dimeji Osingunwa, Brand Manager Tolani Tijani articulated the company’s dedication to promoting healthy sleep habits from infancy. Tijani emphasized the thoughtfully engineered design of the Dreamtime Baby Mattress, highlighting its unique features that contribute to a comfortable and supportive sleep environment. The mattress, crafted with water-resistant yet breathable materials, ensures a cool and dry surface, promoting restful sleep crucial for a child’s physical and cognitive development. This focus on quality and the well-being of children reinforces Mouka’s commitment to providing products that cater to the specific needs of different age groups, establishing the brand as a trusted partner in promoting healthy sleep practices.

The spirit of giving extended beyond Lagos, reaching families in other states across Nigeria. In Oyo State, the celebrations unfolded at the University Teaching Hospital, Ibadan, where Baby Asimiyu, born at 12:01 a.m., and Baby Olaniyi, born at 2:43 a.m., were welcomed into the world and into Mouka’s New Year tradition. The ripple effect of these gestures of goodwill created a sense of shared joy and appreciation across the nation. Grateful parents, touched by Mouka’s generosity, expressed their heartfelt thanks, acknowledging the company’s genuine care for Nigerian families. These sentiments echoed across the various hospitals, highlighting the impact of Mouka’s initiative in creating a positive start to the new year for many families. The initiative serves as a powerful example of how businesses can actively contribute to the communities they serve, creating shared value and fostering a sense of collective well-being.
