Junior Chamber International (JCI) Nigeria, a prominent youth organization dedicated to fostering leadership and positive change, has launched the nomination process for the prestigious 2025 Ten Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) Award. This annual program recognizes ten exceptional young Nigerians aged 18 to 40 who embody the JCI mission and demonstrate exemplary entrepreneurial spirit and ethical leadership. These individuals contribute significantly to their communities and the nation through various endeavors, transforming challenges into opportunities and inspiring others through their impactful work. The TOYP award celebrates the achievements of young active citizens who are making a tangible difference in diverse fields.

The 2025 TOYP nomination period commenced in December 2024 and will conclude in February 2025. Yetunde Oyeyipo, the chairperson for the 2025 JCI Nigeria TOYP, encourages all Nigerians to nominate deserving young individuals who have demonstrated exceptional qualities and achievements in their respective fields. Nominations can be submitted through the official JCI Nigeria website. A distinguished panel of judges will meticulously review the nominations to select the top 30 candidates, with final confirmation provided by audit partners by March 2025. The selection process emphasizes the candidates’ commitment to the JCI mission and their impact on the community.

The TOYP award encompasses a wide range of categories, recognizing outstanding contributions in diverse areas of human endeavor. These categories include business, economic and/or entrepreneurial accomplishment; political, legal, and/or governmental affairs; academic leadership and/or accomplishment; cultural achievement; moral and/or environmental leadership; contribution to children/world peace and/or human rights; humanitarian and/or voluntary leadership; scientific and/or technological development; personal improvement and/or accomplishment; and medical innovation. This diverse range of categories reflects the multifaceted nature of youth contributions to society and underscores the JCI’s commitment to recognizing excellence in various fields.

The ten individuals selected as TOYP honorees in Nigeria will not only receive national recognition but also gain the opportunity to compete on the global stage. They will join other outstanding young people from over 50 countries where JCI operates, further showcasing their talents and contributions to a wider audience. Nigeria has a proud history of TOYP recipients who have gone on to achieve remarkable success on the global stage. Seven Nigerians have been honored with this prestigious award, demonstrating the nation’s commitment to fostering exceptional young talent. These individuals include Ray Ekpu (1988), Dr. Modupe Osho (1996), Dr. Ola Orekunrin (2013), Imrana Buba (2017), Adepeju Opeyemi Jaiyeoba (2017), Jacinta Uramah (2018), and Temie Giwa-Tubosun (2021). Their achievements serve as an inspiration to future generations of young Nigerians, demonstrating the power of dedication, hard work, and a commitment to positive change.
