The Chairman of the Osun State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Sunday Bisi, has issued a stern warning to Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), regarding his provocative comments at a recent political gathering in Ondo State. In these statements, Ganduje alluded to a strategic plan by the APC to dominate the entire Southwest region of Nigeria. Bisi urged Ganduje to refrain from making incendiary remarks that could stir political unrest, highlighting the already volatile conditions in the country marked by ethnic tensions and economic difficulties. He emphasized the importance of stability in the Southwest and cautioned against statements that may escalate tensions among the populace.

Bisi underscored the principle of regional autonomy in political decision-making, asserting that the people of Osun would ultimately determine their governance when the time is right. He described Ganduje’s ambitions to dominate the region as not only reckless but also indicative of a misunderstanding of the political realities in Nigeria. The PDP chairman remarked that Ganduje’s comments seem to dismiss the voices of the populace and undermine the democratic process. He contended that such political maneuvering could have detrimental effects on societal cohesion, particularly in a region that has experienced its share of political strife.

Further, Bisi criticized Ganduje’s record as the former governor of Kano State, pointing out that his inability to foster progress in his home state undermines his credibility to make sweeping claims about the Southwest. He suggested that Ganduje’s past experiences, characterized by what he termed a “disastrous tenure,” disqualify him from making threats regarding the political landscape in other states. The PDP chairman argued that rather than fostering unity and collaboration, such remarks could lead to unnecessary political turmoil, thus exacerbating the existing tensions within the country.

Emphasizing caution, Bisi warned Ganduje that trying to manipulate elections or undermine the democratic process in the Southwest would be risky and likely to backfire, similar to “stepping on the tail of a dangerous cobra.” He further admonished that Ganduje should learn from his failures in Kano, where the populace rejected the APC due to the aftermath of his governance. Bisi reiterated that political leaders should act responsibly and recognize the power of the electorate rather than attempting to impose their will through intimidation or coercion.

Addressing the current economic crisis faced by Nigeria, Bisi reminded Ganduje that while the President is preoccupied with addressing these issues, it is essential for political leaders to remain focused on constructive dialogue and fostering political harmony rather than exacerbating frustrations. The PDP chairman highlighted that the stakes are high for all parties involved and that the attitude of political leaders should reflect a commitment to the welfare of the citizens rather than self-serving ambitions.

In conclusion, Bisi’s statements serve as a significant message to Ganduje and others in political leadership about the importance of responsible rhetoric in a politically sensitive environment. Political figures should be aware of their words and the potential ramifications on national stability and unity. The future of governance in Osun and the broader Southwest should rely on democratic principles and the will of the people, without the interference of incendiary rhetoric or reckless strategies that could plunge the region into deeper conflict.
