Governor Oyebanji Approves N200 Million for Ekiti State Retirees’ Gratuities

Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has demonstrated his commitment to the welfare of retirees by approving the release of an additional N200 million for the payment of gratuities. This latest tranche of funds will be utilized to settle outstanding gratuities for state government pensioners up to July 2015. The announcement, made by Mr. Francis Omotoso, Permanent Secretary of the Pension Transition Arrangement Department (PTAD), signifies a continuation of the Oyebanji administration’s efforts to address the backlog of pension-related liabilities inherited from previous administrations.

This disbursement is part of a broader initiative by the current administration to prioritize the financial well-being of retired civil servants. It reflects Governor Oyebanji’s "continuity and shared prosperity" agenda, which emphasizes the importance of fulfilling obligations to those who have dedicated their careers to the service of Ekiti State. The allocation of these funds aims to provide financial relief and stability to retirees, acknowledging their valuable contributions to the state’s development.

The N200 million injection builds upon previous efforts by the Oyebanji-led government to clear outstanding gratuity payments. In the past 30 months, over N7.2 billion has been disbursed for this purpose, a testament to the administration’s dedication to tackling this long-standing issue. This substantial investment demonstrates a commitment to alleviating the financial burdens faced by retirees and ensuring they receive their rightful entitlements.

To facilitate the disbursement process, eligible beneficiaries have been urged to visit the PTAD office located at the Old Governor’s Office. There, they can complete the necessary documentation in preparation for cheque collection. This streamlined process aims to ensure efficient and timely distribution of the funds to those who are entitled to them. The administration’s proactive approach underscores its commitment to transparency and accountability in managing public finances.

Governor Oyebanji’s consistent efforts to address the backlog of gratuity payments have been widely commended. This latest approval not only provides much-needed financial relief to retirees but also reinforces the government’s commitment to their welfare. By prioritizing the needs of its senior citizens, the Oyebanji administration is fostering a sense of security and appreciation for their years of service.

The approval of this additional N200 million represents a significant step towards fulfilling the government’s promise to clear outstanding gratuities. It is a tangible demonstration of Governor Oyebanji’s commitment to improving the lives of Ekiti State retirees and ensuring their financial well-being. The efficient and transparent disbursement process further strengthens public trust and confidence in the administration’s commitment to responsible financial management. This ongoing commitment to addressing pension-related liabilities underscores the government’s dedication to creating a more equitable and prosperous future for all citizens of Ekiti State.
