The Sokoto State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has vehemently denounced the recent terrorist attack on Kwalajiya village in Tangaza Local Government Area, decrying it as a barbaric and deeply distressing tragedy. The attack, which occurred earlier this week, claimed the lives of 15 innocent residents and left seven others injured, casting a pall of grief and fear over the community. The PDP, in a statement released to the press, expressed profound sorrow and outrage at the senseless violence, extending their condolences to the bereaved families and assuring the injured of their thoughts and prayers.

The party’s statement, signed by Publicity Secretary Hassan Sahabi Sanyinnawal, served as both a condemnation of the violence and a call to action. The PDP urged security agencies to swiftly investigate the attack, apprehend the perpetrators, and bring them to justice. Furthermore, they called upon the Sokoto State Government to immediately bolster security presence in the affected area to prevent further attacks and provide much-needed relief and support to the traumatized community. This includes ensuring the safety and well-being of the residents, providing medical assistance to the injured, and offering psychosocial support to those grappling with the emotional aftermath of the violence.

The PDP emphasized its unwavering solidarity with the people of Tangaza, assuring them of the party’s full support during this trying period. They reiterated that the safety and security of all citizens remain paramount and must be prioritized by all levels of government. The party’s statement also served as an appeal to the Federal Government, urging them to adopt more decisive and sustained measures to combat the escalating insecurity plaguing Sokoto State and the nation as a whole. They emphasized that this recent attack underscores the urgent need for a comprehensive and effective national security strategy.

The PDP’s statement highlighted the growing concern over the increasing frequency and brutality of terrorist attacks across the country. They stressed that the Federal Government must fulfill its constitutional mandate to protect the lives and property of its citizens, emphasizing that the current security situation demands immediate and decisive action. The party’s call for action extended beyond mere condemnation of the violence; it encompassed a demand for concrete steps to address the root causes of insecurity and implement effective strategies to prevent future attacks.

The PDP reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to supporting all communities affected by insecurity, advocating for a united front in tackling the scourge of terrorism and banditry that has gripped Nigeria. They called for a collaborative approach involving all stakeholders, including government agencies, security forces, community leaders, and citizens, to effectively combat the complex security challenges facing the nation. This collaborative approach, the party argued, is essential for building a more secure and resilient nation capable of withstanding the threats posed by terrorism and other forms of violence.

The party’s statement concluded by emphasizing the urgent need for a collective response to the escalating security crisis. The PDP stressed that the responsibility for ensuring the safety and security of all citizens rests not solely with the government but with all segments of society. They called for a renewed commitment to national unity, urging Nigerians to stand together in solidarity against the forces of violence and work towards building a more peaceful and secure future for all. The PDP’s message resonated with the widespread anxiety and frustration over the persistent insecurity, serving as a reminder that the fight against terrorism requires a concerted and sustained effort from all stakeholders.
