Her generous donation of ₦110 million, distributed as ₦5 million to each bereaved family, served as a cornerstone of the Victim Support Fund, designed to alleviate the financial burden and emotional distress faced by the families in the wake of their devastating loss. Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, mirrored the First Lady’s generosity, further augmenting the support with an additional ₦130 million from the state government. This substantial contribution ensured that each of the 10 injured athletes received ₦2 million and a plot of land, providing them with both financial security and a tangible asset to aid in their recovery and future stability. The families of the deceased also received an additional ₦5 million each from the state government, bringing the total state contribution to ₦240 million, a testament to the government’s commitment to supporting its citizens in times of crisis. Prior to these significant contributions, the Kano State Government had already provided an initial ₦22 million in immediate relief following the accident.
