The construction of a GH¢7.3 million astro turf at the Asem cluster of schools in the Subin Constituency is nearing completion, with an impressive 80 percent of the work already done. Contractor Boateng Collins has announced that turfing is expected to finish by the end of the week. Following this, the project will see the installation of essential amenities such as VIP stands, washrooms, floodlights, and other facilities, all set to be completed by the end of this year. This astro turf facility is recognized as the largest of its kind in the Ashanti region, underlining the significance of the project for the local community.

The initiative for this substantial project comes from Lawyer Kofi Obiri Yeboah, the NPP Parliamentary candidate for the Subin Constituency, who has funded the entire endeavor from his personal resources. His commitment to the constituency is made evident through this investment, which aims to provide a high-quality sporting facility for the youth in the area. During a recent inspection of the construction site, Yeboah emphasized that the astro turf project addresses a request from the local youth, highlighting his responsiveness to community needs even prior to announcing his candidacy for Parliament.

Strategically located within the Asem cluster of schools, the astro turf serves as a tribute to several distinguished alumni, including notable figures such as the late Asantehene Otumfour Opoku Ware, former President John Agyekum Kuffour, former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, and businessman Alhaji Asoma Banda. Yeboah noted that the project is not only a sporting facility but also a reflection of legacy and honor for these leaders within the community. This meaningful location choice demonstrates Yeboah’s understanding of the local culture and history, aiming to inspire current and future generations through sport and education.

In addition to the current project, Yeboah shared ambitious plans to replicate similar astro turf facilities at other locations, including the Adum Military Barracks and Amankwatia. These plans are indicative of his vision and commitment to promoting sports and recreational activities across the constituency. As he prepares for his campaign leading up to the elections in 2025, these projects are positioned as the beginning of his service as the elected Member of Parliament, with a focus on improving community amenities and infrastructure.

Lawyer Kofi Obiri Yeboah is enthusiastic about the potential of these projects to enhance the lives of residents in Subin, as he understands the crucial role that sports and recreational facilities play in fostering community spirit and engagement among the youth. He has urged constituents to not only support his candidacy but to also back Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s presidential bid in the upcoming 2024 general elections. This call to action for collective support illustrates Yeboah’s proactive stance in rallying the community towards a common goal of development and progress.

Through his personal investment and strategic initiatives, Yeboah is establishing a solid foundation for his political ambitions while genuinely aiming to uplift the youth and the wider community in Subin. The completion of the astro turf project will symbolize a significant milestone in this journey, showcasing his commitment to tangible societal improvements and serving as a catalyst for future developments. As the project approaches its completion, anticipation builds within the community, reflecting hope for a more vibrant and engaging environment for the youth in the Subin constituency.
