VFS Global, a leading provider of technology services for governments and citizens worldwide, has acquired a majority stake in CiX Citizen Experience, a Brazilian company specializing in digital and physical citizen services. This acquisition represents a significant step in VFS Global’s strategic expansion, bolstering its capabilities within the public service delivery sector and extending its global reach. CiX’s established presence in Brazil, coupled with its two decades of experience in citizen service innovation, provides a strong foundation for growth. VFS Global plans to leverage its existing international infrastructure and operational expertise to scale CiX’s successful model across new markets, particularly in Africa. The combined strengths of both companies promise enhanced service delivery and improved citizen engagement across the globe.

The acquisition of CiX Citizen Experience centers on harnessing the power of advanced digital technologies, particularly AI and data-driven platforms, to transform public service delivery. By integrating CiX’s cutting-edge digital capabilities with VFS Global’s extensive global network and experience in managing complex service ecosystems, the partnership aims to deliver next-generation integrated solutions for both public and private sector clients. This synergy will enable the development of tailored solutions that enhance citizen engagement, accessibility, and overall satisfaction with government services. The shared vision is to create a more streamlined, efficient, and user-friendly experience for citizens interacting with government agencies.

This strategic partnership offers significant benefits to both organizations. For CiX, the acquisition provides access to VFS Global’s substantial resources, including capital, technology, talent pool, and global reach. This infusion will propel CiX’s expansion across Latin America and other international markets, accelerating its growth trajectory and solidifying its position as a global leader in citizen services. For VFS Global, the acquisition strengthens its portfolio, adding a proven model for citizen service delivery and expanding its capabilities in the public sector. This aligns with VFS Global’s broader mission of empowering secure global mobility and fostering trust between governments and citizens.

CiX Citizen Experience has a strong track record in Brazil, managing over 250 service centers and offering more than 200 types of services to state and municipal governments. Since its inception in 2008, CiX has served over 150 million citizens, issuing more than 30 million identity cards and 20 million driver’s licenses. With operations in key regions across Brazil, CiX has become a leader in digital and physical public service solutions, consistently driving innovation and improving the quality of life for millions. This experience and established infrastructure provides a solid platform for VFS Global to expand its service offerings in the region and leverage CiX’s expertise for global application.

VFS Global boasts an extensive global presence, operating over 3,600 Application Centers in 158 countries and processing over 311 million applications since 2001. In 2023 alone, the company secured seven major global contracts, including a landmark agreement with the UK government to manage visa and citizenship services across 142 countries. Additional contracts with the governments of Australia, Norway, Sweden, Latvia, Iceland, and Austria further solidify VFS Global’s position as a trusted partner in delivering secure, efficient, and innovative solutions for visa and consular services worldwide. This global reach and established trust with governments provides a powerful platform to integrate and expand CiX’s successful service model.

Beyond its global visa and consular services, VFS Global is also actively involved in enhancing citizen services in specific countries, such as Ghana. In Ghana, VFS Global has been an integral partner in two key projects: the Premium Passport Service and Vehicle and Driver’s License services. Since 2018, VFS Global has operated biometric-enabled Premium Passport Centres in Accra, Kumasi, and Tamale, extending its services to the Ghanaian diaspora in the USA. These centers offer faster processing times and dedicated support, streamlining passport services and strengthening ties with the Ghanaian community both domestically and abroad. Furthermore, VFS Global supports the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) in Ghana, operating an Ultra Centre in Accra that provides a user-friendly experience for citizens and residents seeking driver’s license renewals, replacements, international driving permits, and vehicle registration. Through these initiatives, VFS Global actively contributes to Ghana’s infrastructure development, ensuring seamless and accessible services for its citizens.
