In a recent community engagement, Alfred Obeng-Boateng, the Member of Parliament for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Constituency in the Western North Region, urged his constituents to retain the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in power, emphasizing the importance of the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy. Launched in 2017, this initiative has alleviated significant financial burdens for parents and guardians, enabling more students to access secondary education. By advocating for continued support of the NPP in the forthcoming December 7 elections, Mr. Obeng-Boateng expressed that doing so would safeguard the progress made under this policy and ensure further benefits for students in the future.

During his engagements, Obeng-Boateng highlighted several significant development initiatives implemented by the NPP government during its eight-year tenure. He enumerated various projects designed to enhance the quality of life in the constituency, including the Greener Pastures Programme, which aims to improve agricultural productivity. Additionally, he mentioned the installation of 56 mechanized boreholes, infrastructure upgrades at 19 basic schools, health infrastructure improvements, youth employment initiatives, scholarships, and the construction of roads. These projects collectively showcase the government’s commitment to addressing local needs and fostering community development.

As he traveled through communities such as Mframakrom, Ahoikrom, Fawanihwe, and Kwartenkrom, the MP listened to the concerns of residents regarding infrastructure deficits. The Chiefs and community members collectively called for the establishment of basic school facilities, durbar grounds, enhanced telecommunications through telephone masts, improved road conditions, and connections to the national electricity grid. These requests reflect the urgent needs of the communities and demonstrate the importance of local governance in addressing such issues.

Mr. Obeng-Boateng did not journey alone; he was accompanied by various constituency executives, Electoral Area Coordinators, and Polling Station Executives. Together, they reinforced their commitment to working closely with the government to find sustainable solutions to the challenges faced by the local populations. This collaborative approach is crucial in ensuring that citizens’ voices are heard and that their needs are adequately addressed, emphasizing the MP’s dedication to the welfare of his constituents.

In urging constituents to vote for him and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Mr. Obeng-Boateng highlighted the upcoming elections as a pivotal moment for the citizens to express their gratitude to the NPP government for the initiatives launched during its administration, particularly the Free SHS Policy. He pointed out that the policy has not only expanded educational access but has also empowered families by alleviating the financial strain associated with secondary education. This argument aims to underline the direct benefits that the party’s continued governance would provide to families and the broader community.

Ultimately, Obeng-Boateng’s message is clear: the retention of the NPP in government is essential for the ongoing development and empowerment of the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Constituency. By focussing on significant policy achievements like the Free SHS initiative, infrastructure improvements, and community development projects, he aims to galvanize voter support. His call to action encourages constituents to consider the broader implications of their electoral choices, reminding them that their participation can significantly influence the future trajectory of their community’s progress and educational opportunities.
