The All Progressives Congress (APC) embarked on a new chapter in its leadership as Ali Bukar Dalori, the Deputy National Chairman (North), assumed the role of Acting National Chairman following the resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje. This transition of power marked a significant moment for the party, prompting Dalori to preside over his inaugural National Working Committee (NWC) meeting at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja. The meeting served as a platform for Dalori to address the NWC members, outlining his vision for the party’s future and emphasizing the importance of unity and collaboration in navigating the challenges ahead. His leadership commenced with a tribute to his predecessor, acknowledging Ganduje’s contributions to the party and setting the stage for a new era of leadership within the APC.

Dalori’s address to the NWC was marked by humility and a deep sense of responsibility. He emphasized that his appointment was not a personal triumph but rather a call to service, a duty he embraced with full awareness of the weight of expectations from party members and supporters nationwide. Drawing upon his extensive experience within the party and as a longstanding member of the NWC, Dalori assured his colleagues of his commitment to transparency, inclusiveness, and unity of purpose. He stressed the need for the APC to focus on its core mandate of delivering good governance to the Nigerian people, strengthening internal democracy, and strategically preparing for the future. His words resonated with a sense of purpose, setting the tone for a united and forward-looking APC.

Looking ahead to the 2027 elections, Dalori underscored the urgency of fortifying the party’s internal mechanisms, re-engaging with the grassroots, and revitalizing its structures at all levels. He emphasized the need for a proactive and strategic approach to ensure the party’s continued success and relevance in the political landscape. This forward-thinking approach signaled Dalori’s intention to lead the APC with a clear vision and a commitment to strengthening its foundations. The Acting Chairman’s emphasis on grassroots engagement reflected a recognition of the importance of connecting with the party’s base and ensuring their voices are heard in shaping the APC’s future.

Dalori, speaking on behalf of the NWC, affirmed the party’s unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda.” He characterized the agenda not merely as a campaign slogan but as a dynamic roadmap for addressing critical challenges facing the nation in areas such as the economy, security, and national cohesion. Dalori reaffirmed the APC’s role as the driving force behind this transformative agenda, pledging full loyalty and partnership with the President. This declaration of unwavering commitment to the “Renewed Hope Agenda” served to solidify the party’s alignment with the President’s vision and emphasized the APC’s dedication to national progress.

In a call for unity, Dalori urged all party members and stakeholders to remain cohesive, particularly during periods of political transition, which often give rise to uncertainty. He cautioned against actions and words that could sow division within the party, emphasizing the importance of focusing on their shared belief in Nigeria’s promise and the APC’s future. This appeal for unity underscored the Acting Chairman’s understanding of the potential for internal discord and his commitment to maintaining a strong and unified party front. His message resonated with the theme of collective responsibility and the need for all members to prioritize the party’s overall well-being.

The official proceedings of the NWC meeting included the formal submission and acceptance of Ganduje’s resignation letter. APC National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, detailed the process, stating that the NWC had duly accepted Ganduje’s resignation. He further explained that, in accordance with Article 14 of the party’s constitution, a motion was passed appointing Ali Bukar Dalori as Acting National Chairman until the National Executive Committee fills the position substantively. This adherence to constitutional procedure ensured a smooth and legitimate transition of leadership within the APC, underscoring the party’s commitment to its internal rules and regulations. The meeting concluded with the formal confirmation of Dalori’s acting chairmanship, marking a new phase in the APC’s journey.
